I need suggestions for dining. We have booked the package with the free dining. I need suggestions for restaurants ideal for groups (up to 14 if you include the 2 one year olds). We will have 8 children in our group ages 1, 1, 8, 9, 9, 12, 12, & 15. Some of the menus I've seen sound like they use fancier ingredients than what I'm used to here in south. I've been elected to plan all of our meals and I'm exhausted from studying menus, websites. etc. I need you all to tell me which kid/group friendly restaurants have the best food.

I've already booked breakfast at CRT and dinner at Chef Mickey's (for one the 1 yr olds birthday). Some places I've thought of trying are Sci-Fi, O'hana's, and Whispering Canyon. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated!

65 days left before we leave on 9/10. :cool1:

Now's as good a time as any to explore some new foods - since it's free! :)

The kids meals are all pretty standard fare - burgers, nuggets, fries, mac & cheese, etc. And everywhere you go you can get a pretty basic steak or pasta or chicken dish.

Sci-Fi, Ohana and WCC are all great choices! Crystal Palace is also a wonderful place for kids and adults - good food and visits from Pooh and friends. We love the Ohana character breakfast.

We are going with a group of 19 in early October, and I've made reservations so far at CRT, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickeys, Le Cellier, and the Spirit of Aloha. I also plan to make reservations (the next few days) at Ohana, WCC, Sci-Fi and maybe Olivia's.

Have a great trip!

With your party size you are Definitely going to need to book your reservations. (Like you didn't know that already :) ) By the time you get there I will have had all my meals and be on my way home. (Sept 3 -10):sad2:

I don't have any kids but I am a big kid a heart and I am a picker eater than most kids.

Sci-Fi is fun because it is a Drive-In setup and the kids can watch the cartoons etc. But with a party of 14 you guys are going to be in 3 different cars most likely. Each car has 3 spots (front seat, middle seat and back seat) which they normally put 2 people per row unless you have a small child and then sometimes they try to put 3 (2 adults and a child). I have to warn you the portions are HUGE so bring your appetite.

Yes you might want to try Whispering Canyon Cafe. From what I have read on the web so far this place sounds like lots of fun...but no characters.

Other than that I would suggest the Buffets since you don't seem to like the fanicer type meals. And the Buffets normally have some sort of Characters.

Since I am a picky eater, when I go I am doing the buffet style and a couple of places that seem to have more normal food that you can order off a menu. Crystal Palace, Sci-Fi,50's Prime Time, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Grand Floridian Cafe, Donald's Breafastsaurous and Chef Mickey. This way I have a few quiet meals and a few with Characters. (I've been to a few in the past...Sci-Fi, Prime Time but that was a while back and Chef Mickey and that was even further back)

Sorry I can't be more help.

I have let the reviews talk me out of doing Spirit of Aloha - I've opted for O'hana instead. Is this a wise choice?

Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming.

It's not that I don't like the fancier meals, I'm just wondering if some of the ingredients intended to make the food look or sound fancy really affect (Affect/Effect I never get those right. :confused3) the taste.

You sound just like me! We are a group of 10 (6 kids ages 1 thru 14) on the free dining plan. I studied and read and graphed out our days and got so stressed out planning that my one eye has been twitching for weeks,LOL. Anyhow, I have all my ADR's made and I didn't have too much trouble with my party size. A couple places we all got one table but most they split us up but said they would try to accomodate putting tables together when possible. No big deal since my parents will be with us and will most likely LOVE to be separted from us at times.

Anyhow, I didn't book any Character breakfasts since my kids eat practically nothing for breakfast, but I did book 3 CM dinners.......LTT, CP, CM.....I did book CRT for dinner since my girls are 1 and 14 and the princesses are not a big deal yet for the baby. Sci-fi I booked for an afternoon dessert and they will split you up quite a bit there so if you don't have alot of adults to pair with the kids you may not want to go there. The themeing is great though, food is alright. Primetime got us all at one table. We're doing O'hana because it seems very kid friendly and Boma so the kids can check out the animals and I'd say the only place I have that I'm unsure the kids will like is Le Cellier, and they had to split us up, but I am dying to see what everyone is raving about.

We were on the fence with WCC, but I decided against it after reading reviews on it lately about the noise and unpredictable service. Some have fun some don't. I decided to go with Boma and experience food I can't get around here instead and they still have a great selection for the kids.

Lot of these places I'm trying for the first time so I can't tell you how good or not good the food is, but I am not real in to fancy food so I went with mostly letting the kids enjoy the character meals because we wouldn't normally do that. The other places I picked by the menu and atmostphere. I can't wait to try the Potroast at Primetime!

I'd get calling for those ADR's......with a big group you have a harder time getting the times you want. I found that right when they started serving at 4 was the best chance of getting a table together.
