I found some useful info lurking around here prior to our recent trip, so I will try and return the favor.

We spent 10 generally excellent days at Disney last month and ate at the following restaurants, many in the Epcot/Bordwalk area since we stayed there.

First and foremost: What they are calling coffee at WDW these days is truly disgusting, especially at 1.75/cup. In past years I remembered liking Disney coffee so I believe it has changed and in fact several times I felt sure it was instant coffee.

Mr Eisner, if you are listening: The ill will that can be generated by serving lousy coffee, especially to people paying big $$, should not be underestimated.

Anyway, the restaurants:

Flying Fish. Excellent, there were 4 of us and we ate here twice so we tried most things on the menu without a single dissapointment. About $200 both times, without wine, but well worth it. Would go back daily if I could.

Spoodles. Dinner. Pretty good, not great. Good service. Will probably return in the future.
Breakfast: Food quality very good, nice selection of unusual items, the Morrocan pancakes were tasty. Service was poor, they seemed understaffed, our food took forever and was not served together, one of us had practically finished before some food arrived. Might return.

Yacht Club Galley. Breakfast. Decent buffet, the biscuits/gravy were stone cold. Coffee tasted particularly awful here. Convienence and price were plusses here. Might return.

Cape May Cafe. Breakfast. Good selection. Overpriced, I guess they have to pay the characters...Would only return if the kids insisted on it.

Beaches & Cream. Lunch. Pretty good food & service if you can get a table.

Big river grill. Lunch Food was ok but overpriced. Service was excellent. Beer was tasty. Might return.

ESPN: Quck & easy meal. Acceptable price/quality/selection. No good draft beers (just my opinion of the selection of course). Probably will return.

Garden Grill. Dinner. In the past we enjoyed this restaurant, however this time the food was served room temperature at best so I may not return for a while. The steak on the platter was tasty and the pumpkin cheesecake was very good also. Service was slow particularly on the cheesecake. Would it kill them to preslice the bread so everyone at the table doesnt have to handle it and then pass it on..

Canada: I forgot the name of the place. Quite good, both the food and the service. Portions were good sized, breadsticks were excellent. Place is a bit cramped but I would go again.

France: Chefs de France. Dinner. Very good, and not as expensive as I had envisioned. Servers were attentive and prompt. The French beer was not my style. 3 adults, about $130.
Will probably return.

Hpllywood & Vine. Lunch buffet. Pretty good as buffets go. Characters did a good job. Might return.

If anyone has specific questions, I will try to answer them.

We agree about the coffee...the best cup we had was at the McDonald's kiosk in EPCOT.

We were at AKL over Christmas and New Years, hubby said Disney has gone too far with the price of coffee and the quality is terrible! I think they use a coffee liquid and it is awful!

They're pushing the limits a bit with food pricing too!

Thanks for the great reviews! We have had good experiences at Garden Grill, but it's easy to imagine the food being cold on occasion at any preplated meal.

I wonder if that was because they made it wrong, or because they made it rignt?

Did they have the NY strip and/or the Pork Chop at the FF?

Thanks for the reviews!

I agree with your review of Flying Fish - always excellent - my favorite WDW restaurant. We will again be enjoying our anniversary meal there in October!

The coffee is bad, with the exception of the very few places they brew the coffe. DH is a heavy coffee drinker, but he switches to tea when at WDW, due to the poor coffee available.

Thanks for the reviews. Agree about the beer at Chefs D France. Kronebourg, I think, and it isn't much. In fact, when I ordered one with my meal, the server sort of made a face. Seems they know it isn't much too!!
But Big River Grille does much better. Can you recall which beers you had??

Eeyore2U- The FF did have a 14oz NY Strip. I had it once and my friends wife had it once also. Excellent both times. Dont recall a pork chop.

My favorite items were the grilled wahoo, (a special at the time we were there), and the steamed clams appetizer. I had never eaten wahoo, I always just considered it a glorified mackerel, good for catchin not so good for eatin, but it was tasty. The broth they serve the clams in is fabulous.

Uncleromulus- I prefer ale, so I tried several of them at Big River. The red ale (might have been called something else) was good, and they had a new IPA that was not on the menu, also good, not to mention strong.

Thanks!! I had an IPA just the other nite--Trafalgar Pale, from England. Strong, and a large bottle (16.9oz) as well---.

Anyway, the coffee at Mara at the AKL was horrible. It was so muddy and tasted like it was made 12 hours before, even at 7 a.m. . I diluted it almost half and half with milk, and it was still bad. My sister mentioned something to the CMs there, but of course they said it was prepackaged and couldn't be changed.
The previous times I've stayed at AKL, the coffee at Mara was fine.
The cappucino we got at Fountainview Cafe and the Main St. Bakery was fine (although overpriced for a puny little cup!).

Thanks for the report. :)

Hopefully, Disney will listen to all the coffee feedback and makes some changes. One can only hope! ;)
