We just returned this past Sunday (8-14) from 2 awesome weeks
at the Contemporary and Vistana Resort. I'll break the dining review
into 2 parts. The first week there were 2 families (me, the wife, daughters
7 and 3) and our friends (dad, mom, kids 9,7,2). We are AP holders and
used the DDE card. Which by the way we saved around $178.00 with.
Being a teacher, I'll go by the old A-F grading scale.
Chef Mickey's (Dinner)... First night, good food, decent service, and the
character interaction was very fun. This has become a regular on our
to do list, but we find we like the breakfast better. Grade= B
Liberty Tree Tavern (Dinner)... Great food and fun, the flank steak and
turkey were realllly good this night. The dessert was also fantastic.
Great character interaction as always. Grade= A
Whispering Canyon Cafe (Dinner).... "Candi Cane" our server, truly made
this one of the highlights of the trip. Between the 5 kids, and our friends
who had never eaten here before, ol' Candi pulled out all the stops. BTW,
the food was pretty darn good also. Friends had the barbecue platter, I had
the nachos, and the wife had the broiled chicken. All was liked.
Grade= A+
O'hana (Dinner)..... Another winner on the food front as always. My only
slight complaint was the steak was a little undercooked for our liking, and
when we asked for some a little more medium well, it took forever for
them to return. Grade= B+
Princess Storybook Akershus (Lunch).....Good experience, decent food (wife
and I had the pasta dish), and the princesses were great. A little pricey
for lunch, this one was probably a one time shot for us.
Grade= B
Mama Melrose's (Dinner)......Another winner here. We eat here every trip,
our friends were here for the first time and they loved it. I had the pepperoni
flatbread, the wife had the soup, salad, four cheese flatbread. Everything
was excellent. The service was a bit slow and uninterested, thus lowering
the grade slightly. Grade= B+
Coral Reef (Lunch).....unfortunately, this was the lowlight of the trip. We had
Adr's...P.S....or whatever for noon, were seated around 12:15 right up
by the tank (beautiful by the way) and things went downhill from there.
The service was terribly s...l.....o......w. Painful actually, we didn't leave
until after 2:00!! The kicker, all of us just ordered appetizers (the lobster
bisque was the bomb!!! it saved the entire lunch). Gotta say, this is one
we are taking off the annual rotation. Grade= C- (only because of the bisque).
Rose & Crown (Dinner).....Spectacular way to end our great week. We were
seated on the patio with a perfect view of the lagoon for Illuminations. Gemma was our server, she was flat out awesome! The food was just as
good. Steak & prawns, Guiness stew, Fish and chips, and the Chicken
curry were ordered by the adults, and everyone was very satisfied. Add
a couple of yards of Bass Ale, some wine, and dessert for the kids, and this
was by far the highlight dinner of the week. Grade= A++
I'll posting week 2 shortly, any ??? I'd be happy to help.
