Day 1
Whispering Canyons – We loved this place! Our server “Big Red” was a hoot. The food was wonderful. The baked beans are to die for! The banana dust bowl is out of this world.
Day 2
Pecos Bill’s – Not impressed. I had to go look on the menu at allearsnet to even remember what we ate. I doubt we’ll come back here.
Boatwright’s – We found this a nice, quiet place to have dinner. The food was good and the service was great. We were happy with everything here. :thumbsup2
Day 3
50’s Prime Time – We had a great time here. We weren’t originally going to hit this place, since we had a Fantasmic package at H&V, but decided to do it out of pocket. I’m glad we did. The food was “ok”, but the service and atmosphere were worth it.
Hollywood & Vine – Lots of interesting salads. It’s a decent buffet for the price. Great desserts! Service was blah, but I think that was our bad luck. Note to self - avoid the shrimp next time...
Day 4
Tangierine Café – Great, fresh food. Wonderful tabouleh. Excellent baklava. We’ll be sure to come back here again. It’s healthy “feel good” food to replenish your tired body after days of walking in the hot sun.
Le Cellier – I had the mushroom filet, which I wasn’t impressed with. It could have something to do with the fact that it had been cooked to the consistency of shoe leather though (I asked for medium-rare). I loved the mushroom risotto, which was fabulous. :teeth: I could have eaten a whole plate of that stuff. DH had the other filet and that was great. DD who’s a vegetarian had a problem with this place (obviously) but after an extremely long wait (thank goodness for bread) they found a way to accommodate her. I thought the cheese soup was pretty average. The cheese sampler was great – I love that mousse. Two more words – ice wine! They had my husband’s favorite beer, too – La Fin Du Monde. :drinking: That made him happy as a clam. The chocolate cake was wonderful.
Day 5
Tusker House – I had the turkey wrap with corn chowder. The wrap was “eh”, but not bad. The corn chowder was great though, as was the cheesecake. I ended up getting my youngest an adult CS meal here because the kids’ choices were just mac and cheese and chicken. Disney needs to get a clue that not all kids want mac and cheese twice a day for a week. Blech.
Boma – Everything here was fantastic! Ok, except for the fufu, which I’m chalking up as an “experience that enriched my vacation” We’ll definitely come here again.
Day 6
Pinocchio’s Village Haus – After reading many bad reviews about this place, I was understandably hesitant. It was close and not crowded, so we said ‘what the heck’ and gave it a try. I had the antipasto salad and it was really nice. It had pickled veggies at the bottom. Tasty! DH said his panini was great. Even though the cannoli was like mainlining sugar, it was pretty tasty too. We loved the figaro fries; I’m going to have to make that mess at home.
Biergarten – Next time, we’re coming here twice! I loved, loved, loved the salads. This may not be a great choice for everyone, but I grew up on this kind of food and it tickled me to see it all on a buffet. The tomato salad and pretzel bread were outstanding.
Day 7
Backlot Express – I was surprised at how much I liked my veggie sandwich. The parfaits were sort of icky though. Out of the four of us that got them, not one of us finished even half of it. I know that’s it’s “no sugar added”, and that was part of the draw for us (too much food all week!) but it just wasn’t good.

Overall, I think the kids’ meals are really lacking. I was surprised that there weren’t more choices but “grease or cheese”. I preferred the buffets for this reason. My 7 year old is a real salad eater and loves her veggies. The endless flow of mac and cheese and cheese crackers wasn’t cutting it for her.
We did the dining plan and after a good think, decided we're going to do it again. It was worth the money, even though trying to eat dessert twice a day, when we're not used to eating dessert ever, was a little hard. :rotfl:

Thanks for your reviews pretty much how we felt with the same choices.....

MzDiz,

Thanks for posting!

We have got to get to Morocco and try the Tangierine Cafe! It just sounds so appealing.

I do agree that the lack of salad and/or vegetables is tough for kids who enjoy them. I am glad that by DSs are older now and can opt for the adult menu. Mac n' cheese never held any appeal for them unless it was Annie's and even then, only once in a while.

The dining plan worked well for us too!

Thanks for the reviews. I have been dying to try the Figaro Fries at Pinocchio's Village Haus - Will definately do so in a couple weeks.

We schedule a buffet every other day so our children can eat fruits and vegetables. They are always dissappointed when we order a kid's meal.

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for posting.

Thanks for the reviews. I really like Tangierine Cafe and Biergarten too. Glad to hear you enjoyed them! :)
