Crystal Palace
This was a last-minute ADR, except when I say last-minute, that means I didn't make it until one month before my trip, opposed to 180 days out. I wasn't going to do any table service meals on my departure day, but my DME pick-up time wasn't until 2:00, and MK had EMH in the morning, so I could get a few good hours in before I had to leave.
The first two times I ate at Crystal Palace, Oct 2005 and Dec 2006, I had gotten the earliest ADR possible at 8:05. But, since this was an EMH morning, that would be pretty dumb, since the park would already be open. And, if I got a later ADR, it could double as my lunch. Which wasn't a bad idea, since I was probably going to miss dinner, since my flight was at dinner time. So I got a 10:25 ADR.
Me being the good little Disney diner that I am arrived early at 10:20. The restaurant was crowded, and there was a decent size line to check-in. The one CM was announcing the breakfast was completely full, as well as lunch, and I saw a lot of people walking away. There was also a man who seemed disgruntled that he had to wait to check-in. Whatever.
I wasn't seated until 10:40, which wasn't too bad, considering the whole restaurant was full. They seemed to be doing a pretty good job of turning over the tables. But, since I'd always had a 8:05 ADR before, this is the first time I had to wait to be seated, so I think I'll stick with pre-park opening ADR times for CP from now on.
My table was decorated with confetti and streamers, so obviously my birthday was not forgotten. (And I got special "extras" at three of my five table service meals.)
After I was greeted by my server and had ordered a diet coke I headed straight to the buffet. They had the same selection as always, and that is not a complaint!
So, knowing what I liked, and what I didn't really care for, started with the main hot buffet line. I had a piece of puffed french toast, a piece of breakfast pizza, (what does it say about me that two of my favorite items are in the kid's section?) and a helping of both kinds of potatoes, roasted red bliss, and cheesy potatoes.
Everything was so good! If you've read my past reviews, you'll know that the last two times I'd been dissapointed with the cheesy potatoes, the first time they'd been too peppery, the second time too salty, but this time, they were just right.
After I'd eaten that I went back up to the buffet, had another piece of puffed french toast, some more red bliss potatoes, and the must-have of the Crystal Palace breakfast buffet, the breakfast lasagna.
It seemed slightly spiced this time. It's always been sweet, but I don't recall it ever tasting spiced before, with cinnamon or something. Again, not like I'm complaining, I usually dump cinnamon on certain things, like applesauce. It was so good.
Between the food, I saw the characters. I believe I saw Eeyore before even going up to the buffet the first time. Then I saw Pooh and Tigger before the second trip, and saw Piglet before I had finished eating. They were all very friendly, and Tigger was especially bouncy this morning.
I debated going up for a third plate of food, knowing I wouldn't be getting anything decent at the airport. But, just then my waitress brought out a birthday cupcake, and had the whole section of the restaurant I was in sing Happy Birthday to me.
I liked the cupcake here better then the cake I recieved at CRT. I also thought it was prettier then the cake at CRT. Not to dis CRT, but I think CP has a better breakfast overall, and the only thing CRT beats it on is location. Though I do love both locations, and was lucky enough to eat at both this trip.
