Arrived 10/5 at WL and had lunch at Whispering Canyon. Our waitress was fun but not obnoxious, but some wait staff got very loud (as is the theme) and it was too much for ds6. Food was just average - tex mex nachos were not good and desert of chocolate kahlua cake was disapointing - no hint of kahlua and it seemed like a pepperridge farm cake as the icing was "one solid piece."
Dinner was counter in MK at Cosmic Rays. Chicken wraps are large and could easily be shared - I thought it was good. Food was more than enough. Deserts weren't great.
Counter at Typhoon Lagoon at Leaning Palms was wraps again and it was good. They gave us tokens for the desert ice cream because we were too full to eat it then. Note the restaurant closes at 4pm, so don't wait til leaving at 5pm to redeem tokens. If you do, maybe you will get lucky like us and the CM went back in and got ice cream for the kids. Magical.
Dinner at 1900 Park. Girl wrote down our pager number wrong so some lucky guest was seated 9 people early. I was irritated. DS 6 not happy about the girly characters, but warmed up when Fairy Godmother sprinkled him with pixie dust. Food was good, all characters came around. One note, we got done at 8:55 and the boats stopped running from 9-945pm because of MNSSHP fireworks, so we were stuck at GF w/ no way to get to WL. After really complaining, a driver took us back to WL at 9:30. MY ds 10 liked the salmon.
Lunch at DisneyQuest - lots of food included they gave us an entre-size salad as well as chicken fingers. fries and dessert for DS10. We definitely could have shared. Pizza slices were huge.
Went to MNSSHP - ate at Cosmic Rays again.
AK - counter food at BBQ place. Was very good as was the key lime pie. Funny note, the ducks are very aggressive. Two girls probably 13yrs, were feeding them and it got out of hand. Then a squirrel got into the action, standing up on his hind legs and fighting ducks for food. She began feeding the squirrel, and he climbed up on her runnig all the way up to her neck. I screamed (much to Dh's chagrin) but gosh, that would freak me out if a squirrel (similar to a rodent in my mind) was on me.
Dinner at Trails End - we missed our ADR for Spoodles and it was about all we could get and close to WL. Very nice waiter- Gary. Food was below average. Like a Ryans but not as good. Desert was either bread pudding or apples that seemed right out of a can. If the dining plan wasn't free, I definitely wouldn't have spent a table service there.
Lunch at Crystal Palace. Waited about 20 minutes - food was good, not great as is with most buffets. I liked the lemon squares very much. characters all came around and we got some cute pics:
Dinner at Garden Grill. This was my favorite. It was served family style and was more than enough. The prime rib was great, bread with flavored butter, yummy potatos au gratin, the deserts were too good - served as a sampler platter. Waitress offered to get DS 10 the same "make your own cupcake" as ds 6, and that was a good thing. The restaurant turns and my only regret was that we meant to come over early and go through "the Lands" first, but we didn't make it. It would have been nice to know what we were looking at. Also, I wish I had gotten fast pass for Soarin before dinner, but passes ran out by 4pm. We did wait 60 minutes for Soarin, but it was worth it and not too bad a wait on full tummies.
Breakfast the next day at Ohanas. The eggs were good but ds 6 and I did not like the waffles. ds 10 was too hungry to care. The characters were funny - stitch tried to pour milk on ds' head. The parade was cute. It was nice to see characters ( LIlo and Stitch) that would have been hard to see otherwise.
Counter meals were often at Roaring forks at WL and were pretty good I guess. There is a dessert called an itzak-something made with 7 candies that is very good but rich.
We left with 5 table service meals left - at least dining plan was free or that would have bothered me more than it did. Between difficulty getting ADR's and getting full from big counter meals, we just didn't need it all.
