I'm not looking to get flamed or anything, but I was on the dining reviews section, and it seems that there's a lot of posts there that aren't reviews. I counted more then ten on the first page that were asking questions, that, and this is just my opinion, should be on this board, and not on the review sub-board. Just my opinion, but can't we keep the review board just for reviews?

Personally, I don't understand splitting people up between the two boards. It seems like questions would inevitably follow reviews, so why separate the two?

I agree with you. I go there to read reviews, and a good portion of the posts are "Does anyone have a review of......"

I thought that board was for posting reviews, not requesting reviews of particular restaurants.

But a lot of people come to this board looking for a review of a specific restaurant. Why put the people posting reviews and those looking for reviews in two seperate places? :confused3

I like the review board. It is usually easy to see new reviews with it being a separate forum. IMO questions would be better addressed on the restaurant page, but maybe new posters don't know this??

another "i agree" here - thought the whole idea of a separate board for reviews was that it was for reviews, not questions

I find the question: 'does anyone have a review of ....?' a little strange

if someone has a review of it then presumably they've already posted it

in which case the search function should be used :confused3

Sorry for the delay in moving non-review threads off the review board and onto the main restaurant board. We usually do a pretty good job of keeping threads on the right board, but we have several moderators who are out of town this weekend - I just got home a little while ago myself - so the threads needing to be moved got a bit backed up.

Frozone, the review sub-board was created at the request of many, many DISers. A lot of people enjoy reading the reviews, but because of the many questions posted on the main board every day, the reviews were difficult to find.

I don't know, usually the thread title reflects what's inside

(ie) Just back - what we ate!

compared to

Can you split meals at Alfredos?

I don't open the threads that don't interest me. Just skip them

I'm glad to hear that the non review threads will be moved to the regular restaurant forum. I also go to the Dining Review section JUST to see dining reviews and come over here to see all the interesting questions people ask. Both are very helpful :yay: , but it is even more helpful to have the two separated! ;)

Thanks to all who post dining reviews and also those here who aren't afraid to ask the questions that I hadn't even yet realized I was interested in knowing the answers to!

Search isn't always working.

I don't see anything wrong with review questions being posted on the review board. :confused3

Thanks for the response. I get it. I don't find it particularly efficient, but I get it.

Just to chime in that there is no REAL way to get every poster to post on the "correct" board. Wish it were possible--but it isn't. That reviews board was established at the request of many members and is intended for reviews only. Questions asking for reviews will be sent to the main board. Most of the responses to those questions aren't really complete reviews, but things like "We like it" , "they have great steak", etc etc.
As Kaycee says, we move posts around on a daily basis as soon as we spot them.

I agree. I though it might be a good idea to have a sticky posting guide at the top of the review board.

Well, then there's people like me, who have been here quite a while, but have no idea there is a separate REVIEW board!!!! :confused3 I never pay any attention to any new boards created and just kind of stick to the 3 I always look at. Now I know. I don't post reviews very often anymore, but if I did, I'd post them here and wonder why they were moved!!!
