I decided to try and make last minute ressies for Akershus as we had already spent 11 days at DW and still hadn't seen a Princess for DD9.I went to guest relations in MK, waited in line for 20 minutes then when I went to give her my room card (only thing we carry when staying at DW), was told I had to have a real card. I explained that my card was back in the room safe, and it was constantly lauded that our room key was our "key to the world" and since the reservation she had found was the only one left before we departed in the next four days I quietly but firmly insisted she help me. She suggested I got back to my hotel and see if the reservation was still available. NOT. After much todo, her manager (who was very, very nice) put the deposit on her corporate card, but with a note that it was to be charged back to the room if we were a noshow. Altogether we spent 90 minutes getting the reservation. Worth it in the end or we would have seen any of the Princess but still a big fat waste of time. Be warned!! pirate:

Yup, credit card guarantees must be made on real credit cards. You can charge products and services on your KTTK, but it makes sense that you cannot put down deposits on it.

I can see how this would be an inconvienience. How did you manage to do 11 days and not see any princesses? :confused3 That hour and a half you spent making your reservation would have been much better spent at MK in the Toontown tent waiting in line for the princesses, JMHO.

Just curious - why does it make sense? In the end, the manager said that the charges would just be charged to the room, so what's the difference?

I can see if you were trying to put a deposit down for something after your stay, but not if it is during your stay. Your room charges are guaranteed by a credit card.

shhhhhh . . .

1) Little known secret.
2) The room key CAN be used as an actual credit card deposit.
3) Sure, some activities/eateries need a true credit card and not a room key.
4) But, the room key will work just fine - every time.
5) Don't have them swipe it.
6) Have them type in the numbers on the bottom of the card.
7) This includes the two-digit key number (eg. 01, 02, etc).
8) Have them select "room charge" from the credit card type drop-down menu.
9) Now it acts like the credit card they wanted!
10) Don't go spreading this around.

Thanks. Gonna print that one out. We obviously have a CM amongst us.

I'm still trying to figure out how 11 days could go by without a visit to Ariel's Grotto, Toontown Princess line, or a stroll around the World Showcase?

Glad to know that the Pricesses were seen, but still, :confused3

The only place we ever see the princesses is at Askerhus. The places you mentioned always have long lines. I prefer to know that the princesses will come to us :thumbsup2 . This doesn't waste time and we can see the princesses in one location.

Wish I had seen this advice :listen: I probably did and just blasted right by it thinking "it could never happen to me". Never even knew there was a princess line in toontown - last time at DW we saw the princesses all over the place - lots of times by the entrance to main street but not this time. I'm assuming you mean Jasmine in WS, we were there twice and missed her but did see at MNSSHP - I'm talking the Star Princesses - still didn't get to see Snow White. Oops, we did see Belle too at story time. Still, compared to 4 years ago they were pretty scarce especially since it was the new celebration launch. Maybe they're just in princess line now. :confused3

WS is a good place to find most of the princesses (not just Jasmine), with little or no lines.

Snow White can be found in Germany.

Aurora & Belle in France.

Mulan in China.

Aurora & Snow White are often at International Gateway too.

There have been recent reports of Cinderella too, but I don't remember if it was in France or at International Gateway.

Sometimes the spots are tucked away towards the back of the countries, other times they're right out along the main walkway or near the water.

Someone posted it already, but YES your KTTW card does work!! We did this in MGM when we wanted to book storybook in EPCOT and they told us we needed a CC and we don't cary anything but the KTTW card. She tried many different things, but after about 20 minutes she gave up and called her boss on the phone and she told her how to do the KTTW card! :teeth: it's CMs like that, that really make the world a great place!! she went out of her way and tried sooo many different things!!

So please note it CAN be done!!! ::yes::
