Dining Ressies - First Week of Dec?

Trying to make dinner reservations in DL on Friday Dec 5 – and nothing is available except Carnation Café…..its the first day for my 60 day window and I am amazed everything is booked already.

I did some checking for the entire first week of Dec and the only restaurant accepting reservations is Carnation Café – odd?

I understand CP is the weekend but really all restaurants are fully booked from open to close?

I called yesterday and the Blue Bayou is set for refurbishment beginning December 1st. That was all the CM knew as far as time in re opening. I made reservations for character meals with no problem. I didn't try regular table service though other than the BB.

Nooo, seriously? Arrrggghh. Going with a first timer (plus my 8 year old doesn't really remember it from 3 years ago) the 2nd week in December and we were definitely planning to have lunch there. Crud

really? i wanted to have DS's 5th b-day dinner there on Dec 6.....grrrrrrr!

I've been able to make all my reservations online for our visit of Nov 30- Dec 5 and I am still able to get reservations for a lot of places on the 5th try searching with a time of 5:30 p.m.

Just got the call back from vacation planning

Did they tell you the day they reopen? I was hoping for Cafe Orleans and our last full day is Saturday 12/13.

Well, this all is a revolting development. We were going to eat at all 3 of those places.

Someone tell me where I can get my chicken gumbo please!

Yes, especially considering that it is Candlelight Processional that first weekend. The resort hotels are showing sold out for that weekend.

We are trying to figure out an alternative restaurant for dinner on Saturday 6 December (our last evening and first night of CP) that doesn't involve trying to leave through Main Street.

I was going to try not to book too many reservations. Now I'm thinking maybe I should.

We arrive 12/6 and are planning to do a WoC package that night.

Sunday 12/7 we'll probably eat hot dogs in line while waiting to choose seats for the Fantasmic Dessert package.

I thought so too, so I tried a little "test".

If you search the reservation system for Sunday November 30 (last day of Thanksgiving weekend, so sure to be quite busy still), there is some availability for all three restaurants.

But if you search for lunch or dinner at any one of the three for Dec 1 - 5 (the only days open at this point), no availability at all. I searched "Dinner" and "Lunch" and changed the party size between 2 and 4 to try and get a reliable result.

It is possible that someone at TDA will spot the problem with having so many dining spots closed and we could see some changes over the next few weeks.

But my guess is that the first two weeks of December was historically a slow period at the resort so TDA is taking advantage of the two weeks between crowd intense events (Thanksgiving and Christmas) to refurb the restaurants.

I am going the 4-7, and I was able to reserve Café Orleans on the 6th for lunch at 1pm. It was in the unavailable section but I clicked it and had times available.... Don't know if that was a glitch one way or the other. Hopefully it is open.

I also tried it with Blue Bayou and that wasn't available so maybe they are opening Café Orleans eariler?
