Dining Reservations HELL!

Pardon my language but it certainly feels like we are in hell, regarding our dining reservations we made back at the 180 day mark! This Spring break we are going for the first time with some good friends of ours, they booked early last year through a local travel agent. Normally we both do our on booking and planning but we've both been super busy and thought we'd let someone else do it for us this year. The TA managed to get us everything we wanted including Be Our Guest reservations on the day our girls have their makeovers done! We go to book our trip this week and I call the same TA and ask her for a quote since she was able to get a great deal for my friend I thought I'd check with her before booking elsewhere or myself. She didn't offer any additional discounts other than what was showing online that I could get myself, so when she took over a day to get back to me. I went ahead and went with another TA that got me a better rate and a gift card. I informed her that we wouldn't using her service as we were already booked. Needless to say she wasn't exactly nice about it, and was very rude on the phone.

But that wouldn't prepare us for the crapstorm that she did to us later on. My friend and I log onto our accounts after having everything linked together to work on fast passes. She then notices that dining numbers are no longer at 5 adults and 3 kids, but 2 adults all the way across except one dinner at BOMA. So I begin checking to see if maybe they just split them up between our accounts since we were now linked. But they weren't, they only showed the 2 adults. The TA went in and removed us from the reservations that my friend made months ago, simply because we did not book with her. Keep in mind that my friend did book through her and that is why this is a shock. It shouldn't matter who she had on her reservations, it's none of the TA business. And she should not have alter them in anyway simply out of spite that we did not book with her. She even removed my friends own child and her nephew that she was also bringing along. The TA did end up adding them back on. But refused to add us back on, she also removed our girls' off of the Simba Clubhouse reservations my friend asked her to make for 4 kids.

So now here we are at 40 some days until our trip with no dining reservations at all other than an adults only meal at BOMA. The TA I went through work vigorously and did manage to get us some good ones, but not as great as what we had. We no longer have the BOG or CRT that we had planned around special times in our trip! Our girls that were looking so forward to being at the parks together and eating together, are completely devastated by this horrendous act! I never would imagine that a grown woman would purposely ruin someone's vacation like this out of spite. And knowing that there are kids involved make it even worse. We can deal with different dining plans, but my youngest daughter who's birthday we were going to be celebrating there doesn't understand why she can no longer eat at her favorite restaurants.

My friend has spoken to Disney and they are going to try their best to work everything back out. She has also spoken to the boss who's employee denied doing it in the first. But my friend had the emails with the original plans on them along with confirmation from Disney saying that she went in there and changed them. We are hoping for a nice resolution to this issue but it's not looking too hopeful!

OH MAN I am soooooooooo sorry that happened and i am not the kind of guy to rub salt in an open wound but........................thats why i never use a TA EVER, not just with WDW, but anywhere i go

Wow!

I'm pretty sure there is a digital trail, not that it needs to be explored.

I would certainly be avoiding this TA in The future. As your new TA fixes things, I would consider seeing if they can redo any of your reservations that remain intact. Then have your friends cancel theirs.

I am really sorry this is happening to you. I know its of little comfort to you now, but reputation really is everything in the TA business. I would consider writing something on Angie's list or similar forum describing your experience. Really, in all my years, I have never heard of someone acting in such a childish and unprofessional manner. I really hope they are able to work something out for you.

Believe me we won't be using one again. I only use the other woman because I didn't have the time to go in and fight for some reservations. And she was great and really took charged and helped just like a TA should!

Disney can see where she went in and made the changes and that's why they're trying to do something about it. But someone grab the reservations real quick for BOG and CRT.

Our TA got us a few of the same ones but they're at different times than my friends, which really sucks but it's at least some of the ones we wanted.

I have posted a few things online without giving out too much details. My friends works in a new bakery downtown close to the TA's office and she's afraid if she starts a smear campaign that the TA will do it as well. And I certainly wouldn't put it past her considering what she has already done. But we are definitely informing people to not use them in the future.

That really is just so disgusting! What is the owner of the travel agency doing? It is obvious that this rogue TA is to blame. I would be so livid.

I may be out of line, or maybe I just don't understand the whole situation, but it sounds like the TA was doing what she was paid for and nothing else. Granted, I'd expect someone in that type of industry to go above and beyond to earn more business, but I'm not sure she did much wrong.

She booked reservations for her clients. When she made the reservations that included you, she thought you were her client, too. Now that you weren't paying for her services, why should she make your reservations?

What she did was vindictive and will probably cost her more business in the future. It was a dumb thing to do, but was it completely out of line?

O C'Mon Really????

So you are saying its dumb, and will cost her business..buttttt its not out of line?

She ultimately affected her paying clients reservations too...so how is not out of line?

WAIT A MINUTE??

You are a TA

I would agree. She really only needs to spend her time booking dining reservations for her clients. If I had been her, I would not have booked any dining reservations for anyone not booked through me in the first place.

But it sounds like *her client* said "I am going to be meeting up with another family, please make all my dining reservations to include X number of people." It's not like the TA did any *extra* work for kasedroz's family. It's not the TA's business why or how those other people are going to be there.

What dates are you looking for? It looks like we might be going at the same time and I have a BOG ADR I need to cancel.

The TA booked the meal reservations for her client, the one who did go with her. What if these reservations had extra people because her client was meeting her parents there or something? It doesn't matter if her client wanted reservations for 2 people or 20 people, it's whatever her client originally asked her to book. So IMO, it was totally out of line for this TA to change her client's reservations.

OP, this is a seriously crappy thing to have happen to you and I'm sorry. The meals are only a part of the magic to be found at the World so I hope that you and your family have an abundance of magic in other areas.

This is rubbish. She went out of her way to make MORE work for herself to change the reservations. She was compensated for doing her job by making reservations for her client. The number of people in reservation does affect amount of work required to make reservation. But going back to change said reservations is the unpaid portion of the work she did. Immature and lame.

No no no.

We go to book our trip this week...

The friends booked *early* last year.
The TA, at 180 days out, willingly made ADRs that included more people than the family she was working with. If her policy was to not do that, she wouldn't have done it. She did it.
The OP went to book just this week (so those ADRs were set months ago for people the TA wasn't dealing with and should have never assumed she was going to work with!).
When the OP didn't book with the TA, the TA went into ANOTHER PERSON's reservation and messed with it. Not the OP's reservation, but a different person's.
The TA went above and beyond to *mess with* two families' plans because someone they never had with a client chose to not become a client.

The OP never had a reservation with the TA. This isn't HER booking the TA messed with.

What I would do if I were you would be to jump on social media and skewer this woman and her agency. Sites like Yelp and Angies list are a good place to start. I would also use her company's name here and on all other forums as well as your facebook. Then when a google search is done in the future prospective clients of this group will learn how they do business and go elsewhere. I would probably then tell the agent to run a search herself so that she realizes that there are consequences to this kind of shady behavior in 2014

Glad to see posters with ADRs you might be able to use. Lots of pixie dust for you. I know some great TAs who would be ashamed of what's happened. Good luck.

When she made the reservations she never even knew who was going to be using them. It doesn't matter if we used her or not. My friend was her client and needed these reservations for a certain number of people. As long as my friend was her client she was doing what her job was by booking what she was told to book.
