Dining Reservations for large group (12)

We are going Thanksgiving week, so I already know reservations will be a struggle. But we have 12 people, so I'm looking for the best way to get them done. This is a 2020 rescheduled trip. Before that was canceled, I had everything already done (ADR and FP). It was a pain to coordinate, but I was able to get it done. Some restaurants allowed me to book all 12 of us and some I could only do 6 & 6.

Can anyone, who has gone recently with a large group, shed some light on what worked and what didn't?

In June we had 10 people in our party. While I was able to book all the ADR’s we wanted I had to book either parties of 5 & 5 or 6 & 4. When we arrived at the restaurants we requested we be seated together. Most, but not all, we’re very accommodating and were able to seat us together. Have a great trip!

When you booked in two groups, were you able to do that under the same username? I tried this week and received a message that I had a reservation and did I want to cancel it.

You should be able to as long as it's different people. Did you deselect yourself on the second reservation?

Others have recommended making the first ADR under someone else’s name (select another member of the party as the one managing that ADR) and then you can manage the second one.

Some places can seat a large group all together. We had a party of 8 at:

Chef Mickey
Liberty Tree Tavern
Chefs de France
Shula’s
Olivia’s
Homecomin

We had 11 in March. Had to book 2 separate reservations at same times and tell them at check in that we were together. They put us close but not tables together. Planet Hollywood pushed tables together for us to all sit at one table but that was it. Chef Mickey was real close. Make sure you book the other table first without your name, or it won’t let you book the second one since you already have one at that time. But it also won’t let you modify that other one that’s not in your name later if you need to.

No, I used two computer, with the first computer I used my MDE account and with the second computer I used my son’s MDE account. I was able to get all reservations within 5 minutes of each other.

Best to call. In some cases they will limit the size of your party online but will book you together if you call.

You can also do what others have suggested and book two completely different ADRs, but even then I would call after you book and ask if they can combine them. Worst case is they say no, but then you still have the two separate ADRs and maybe they will combine them when you arrive. But best case they combine them on the phone and you are all set.
