Dining Reservation @ Springs - capacity?

Hi! We have a few dinner reservations at Disney Springs during our next trip in May and I’ve been seeing more and more that Disney Springs is hitting capacity at night. How will this work if we have dining reservations? Will we be let in to eat? Has anyone had experience with this issue lately?
Thanks :)

I believe it would work the same way as everywhere on site. A dining reservation does not guarantee you entry into any park or DS if they hit capacity. However, a cast member should be able to help you cancel the reservation in that case with no penalty.

We have avoided DS exactly because of this. The parking and traffic is horrible at night there. We normally don’t take Disney buses as having a car to us is more convenient and we don’t like waiting around for a bus. Taking a bus is probably a much better option if you plan to visit here.

Would the Disney buses be aware of filled capacity and not pickup at the resorts then? I’d hate to ride a bus there for dinner and find out you can’t get in.

Can I ask where you're seeing that it's hitting capacity? We have reservations at STK on a Saturday in May, and I'm wondering if I should change it to another night.

So capacity seems to be measured by parking not bodies. When the garages are full they consider it at capacity. Disney buses and rideshares still drop off. There’s no one counting entry.

Yes - appears to be just parking capacity so you could still walk in from a DS hotel (or SSR), grab an Uber, or take a bus. Some have reported being able to park on the surface lot near Cirque with a confirmed dining reservation but I'm not sure that happens all the time.

The overhead parking signage will tell you if they are at capacity when you get close.

It was on multiple disney blogs in the last few weeks. But as others have said, it probably doesn’t matter if you take a disney bus since they aren’t counting body numbers but parking spots. When we go 4/23-5/11 there’s no major holidays or long weekends (besides Mother’s Day- which usually doesn’t draw massive crowds) so Im thinking now it shouldn’t be an issue.

Thanks. Good to hear - we’re staying at SSR and walking over.

Absolutely! I didn’t realize it was based on parking spots, but it makes sense. I can’t imagine they could accurately calculate how many people go in and out of DS with how many entrances and exits there are. And yep, we’ll be at Riviera and will bus over just to be safe! Have a great trip :)
