We have been back from wdw for a week now and I finally have a few minutes to sit down and make this post. I hope I can post one on the trip board also - eventually! We stayed at Pop from 11/27 - 12/4. We were on the dining plan - which I highly recommend! Eating was definitely one of the highlights. I kept telling my kids that the other times I have been to WDW - the last time was in '92-that we ate pb crackers and maybe one hamburger a day. To be able to eat at all those great restaurants was wonderful! Okay, so our first of all the only counter service worth mentioning was the Tusker House in AK. The rotisserie chicken was great! I did not care too much for the Harbor House in MK, however their Apple Pie was good. Pecos Bills was definitely the best hamburger. I forgot, I also liked my roast beef sandwich at the Electric Umbrella in Epcot. Worst meal - ABC commisary in MGM. I could not remember which one everyone said was bad, but it must have been ABC - I will remember this next time.
Table services: Our first night we ate at the Sci Fi diner. I had some type of shrimp pasta - it was okay. The spinach artichoke dip was great! Several people with us had the ribs and said they were really good. My DD enjoyed the salmon. On a scale from 1 - 5 I would give it about a 3. I don't think I will eat there next time.
Monday night we ate at Chef Mickey's, probably our most fun meal. Great place to see main characters. They all came to our table twice. The food was good too. Great dessert table and tasty prime rib.
Tuesday lunch we ate at Le Cellier in Canada. Best meal all week. Fantastic steak. I had the Filet, everyone else had the other steak- 10 oz. sirloin maybe? The cheddar soup and bread was wonderful and I loved the Wasabi sprimp cocktail. My DS is 6 and had to order off the kids menu (they had one of the best kid's menu - most were pretty lame)but there was not a kids appetizer so he ordered an adult one. The desserts were also great, especially the Creme Brulee. I also really like my DS's chocolate "moose". We will eat here again.
Wednesday we ate at Tony's on Main St. This would be a close runner up to Canada. I had a Chicken Marsala dish that was very good. Several other had the steak and it was almost as good as Canada. The calamari was great. We were sitting on the porch. So while we had dessert and coffee we watched the Spectromagic parade - that was really neat. The chocolate torte was wonderful. I would eat here again too and plan it around a parade.
Thursday we went to Mickey's Backyard Barbeque in Fort Wilderness. This is the only thing I wish I had not done. The food was okay - bbque chicken, ribs, beans, coleslaw and yucky plain cake. We weren't really sitting close enough to see the stage - if you go get there early and sit in the center. My kids weren't really into the characters so after we ate, we left. I felt like it was a waste of time and money for us. Next time maybe we will try the Revue instead.
Friday we stayed in the World showcase. We ate a counter service in China which was good, I don't recommend the ginger ice cream. We ate supper in at San Angel in Mexico. It was okay - I won't eat there again. Very crowded. I had some type of chicken that the waiter recommended and it was pretty good. No one else in my family was impressed. Desserts were not impressive either. Later that night we got pastries in France. They were wonderful!
That about sums it up! Wow we did eat quite a bit! But we also walked quite a bit. Oh we also at at the Rain Forest Cafe in DTD our first night in Orlando. Great atmosphere - the food is okay. Everyone should eat there at least once. Well I hope this is helpful. I have a whole list of places I want to try next time.
