We are scheduled for the late seating on the Sept. 10th cruise. We were waitlisted for first and I was really hoping to get it because my husband has acid reflux and if he eats really late he will get sick. My problem is that when I called Disney a month ago and told them this they said to get a medical form. Well we recently moved and do not have insurance right now plus we don't have a doctor right now. What should I do? Should I try to call them again or wait till I get onboard to try and change it. If we can't change it, it won't be the end of the world but it would let my husband eat more freely than at the late seating. Thanks..

I guess you have to decide if visting a Dr. before is worth taking the risk of having to eat late. You could always eat in the buffet or order room service if the acid reflux becomes to bad...

I was going to suggest Topsider's buffet or room service as well.

There are also chances you could go to Palo. (They only permit one reservation per stateroom per cruise, but others have been able to walk-in and dine multiple nights. It's 10.00 per person extra.)

I have a feeling that you and DH won't have a problem changing your seating to earlier, though, once you check-in. (I've very seldom read about no availability once onboard.)

Good luck! :earsgirl:

I wouldn't worry about it. When you get on the ship..go to the specified place and explain your situation and ask for your dining time to be changed. Be persistant. If this doesn't work, Topsiders serves the exact same menu each night as the dining rooms do, with the exception of salad (you get salad bar at topsiders). The food is wonderful, warm and the service is excellent. Hubby and I almost prefer this over the dining rooms because it doesn't take two hours for dinner and the food was very fresh, and we could wear shorts to dinner. They even have a sommelier on duty if you want wine. Really and excellent option.

Thank you so much for your replies, I called Disney and they said to tell them when we get on the cruise what the problem is and try to get it changed to first. So that's what we are going to do. If we don't get it and we try the late and it does bother him then maybe we will try topsiders. Either way we are going to ENJOY our vacation!!

Could you possibly call his previous doctor to have them complete the medical form? Usually, as long as a person has been seen in the past year they are still considered an active patient, even if they have moved.

My husband has a similar problem - although not as severe as yours. We are getting the medical from filled out, but the DCL rep told me that would got gaurentee me the early seating. Since they offer other choices for dinner she said. So, if you can't get the form filled out, don't stress. I'm guessing that if you explain onboard, you might have a better chance - afterall the folks on board want the please you to earn your tip :) .

I was going to suggest this also. If you've moved recently and just haven't gotten settled in your new area with doctors and such...I'd just contact the one you/he left and explain that you haven't found a medical provider in your new area yet...but needed this medical form filled out for your trip. I'd do it ASAP...as this may not be top priority for them.

Good luck.

You could also wait and go to the area on the ship when you first arrive to make dinning changes....but that would be a chance thing.

As I posted before, my DH has same problem. We were told to get the medical form filled out. I just followed up with dr's office and they faxed form directly to DCL. When I checked this morning, we had been switched to main dining (last week when I looked, were still late). I know this is posted too late for OP, but for anyone else with same or similar issue, I wanted to post my experience.
