Dining Question..

This January I am going to Disney for the first time without my family. Me and my boyfriend are going alone.. I have been to many restaurants in Disney and want to try something new. We are 20 years old, and perhaps would like to go to something more romantic at least one of the nights. I would like to hear everyones recommendations(non-romantic restaurants also!)

Here are the list of restaurants I am thinking about that I have been to:
-Boma (breakfast)
-The Plaza (lunch)
-Whispering Canyon Cafe (dinner)
-O'Hanas (dinner during the fireworks)
-At least one character meal but I(oops I mean we I promised him I would not get crazy and take over the planning! lol) have not figured out which one yet.

We are going the first week of January. When is a good time to book ADR's? Id really appreciate some feedback..Thanks!

My DH and I are having a "date night" without the kids one night while we are in Disney, my ILs are coming and are taking our 6 and 3 to one of the parks while we go. We have a 6:10pm ADR for Cali Grill then we are either going to head on over to PI, Boardwalk, or just hop on the monorail and just ride around to the different resorts for drinks and appetizers. I know you said that you are 20, so you won't be able to do that so I would suggest you make a later ADR to Cali Grill, especially on nights when Wishes are going on. I have never been to this restaurant but I have heard a lot of good reviews about it because the views of the castle is just amazing.

As for your ADR question, if you are staying at a Disney Resort, you should be able to check how many days until your vacation and once you hit 180 days, you will be able to call and make your ADRs. Disney won't accept ADRs before the 180 day mark. Or you can just count on a calendar and find out that way. Have fun planning

Hi-
DH and I ate at the Coral Reef in EPCOT during our disneymoon last December. It was our favorite meal for the whole trip and we thought the atmosphere of the dining area was the most romantic that we encountered.

a really nice place to eat would be Citrico's. if you time it right, you can eat there while overlooking the lagoon and watch wishes while you dine. it's very nice, with an adult theme. it's on the expensive side, but if you use the DDP, it's a great deal. another of my favorites is the Hollywood Brown Derby. it's not as romantic, but DGF and I always have a blast there.

My BF and I do a "surprise dinner" for each other. We both plan a place and automatically dress nice. Then we escourt each other to the location...not knowing exactly where we are going!

We have done California Grill, Jiko (very nice..esp if you like Boma!),Cindy's Table,and Park Fare. I am taking him to Victoria and Albert's this time around.

We found these all nice and romantic....including the character ones!

California Grill and Jiko are great recommendations. If you don't want to spend that kind of money, the Coral Reef or San Angel Inn are both quite scenic and offer very good fare.

We are so similar! My DBF and I went last August alone together and we were 20 at the time...

we had some GREAT meals... and some not so great ones...

My DBF LOOOVED Ohana... so I would definitly keep that.. (doesnt take more than massive amounts of food constantly coming to the table to impress a 20 year-old guy). We hated chefs... blech dont go... victoria and alberts was AMAZING but unless your willing to drop $250 for two people comfortably I would stay away... wolfgang puck cafe in Downtown disney was a really fun funky night away from the parks for us (we loved it). and Narcoossees was a wonderful last night! Its two dining credits but if you like seafood (lobster yuuummmm) I'd definitly suggest it.

We like trying new things! And since we added two days we couldnt afford V&A...

One place in the parks that is almost child-free is Bistro de Paris. It is definitely more upscale than Chefs and does not have a children's menu. It is also subdued lighting and a slow-paced service rather than the rushing that tends to be at the other park restaurants.

I appreciate everybodys help! It is really helping me sort some stuff out.. There are so many good restaurants I cannot choose from.. I better choose fast though. I think the first day we can make ADRs is July 6th(if I counted correctly) I am so bummed we cannot use the dinning plan because we are using a family discount. It saves a bit more that way... but the dining plan is so organized and im all about organization.
MarcyPoo- I would love to hear more about your trip with DBf. You are so right about impressing them with keeping the food coming!
Cheshire Figment - Bistro de Paris is definately added to my list! That is the exact vibe I was going for!

California Grill is very romantic. The cm when you make the reservation that it is a special meal and they will help you with the right time to watch the MK fireworks. enjoy
