Dining plans when using travel agent

We are thinking of booking an August trip through a travel agent. If I do that can I still make my dining arangements through Disney at the 180 day mark? Do travel agents give you confirmation numbers for you trip like Disney does or would I need a confirmation number form Disney?

I booked through a travel agent and received a Disney confirmation number that I then could use to book all my own reservations. I don't know if it depends on the agency or not. I used Small World Vacations.

As a travel agent myself, I can tell you that it's really up to the client.

There are clients that like me to do it for them, which I happily do, and then there are some that want to do it themselves - also totally cool.

Your TA will give you your confirmation number for your reservation, so if you want to do the ADR's yourself and tie them into your reservation, it's easy as can be.

The only other reason you would need a room confirmation number is to book 10 days worth of reservations at exactly 180 days from the first day of your trip. If this is what you would like to do (your 180 day date will fall this month sometime for an August trip) then either ask your travel agent to make the reservations, or make sure the travel agent provides you with Disney's confirmation number for your room reservation. You will need to prove you are staying onsite before Disney's restaurant reservation systems will allow you to access 180 + 10 reservation booking. Some travel agents appear to provide clients with their own booking number, but to do 180 + 10 reservations yourself you must have Disney's number.
