Does anyone know if you can get a dining plan without getting a MYW ticket?

We have AP's, so we obviously don't need tickets. We also already have our rooms booked with an AP Best Rate program. We also have the DDE card.

I was just wondering if the dining plan was available "a la carte" or not (?).

TIA!

At this point the dining package is not available to those of us with the APs, I know when the disounted packages were available, some people were just buying a one day ticket so that they could purchase the dining plan, but still use the APs.
They are opening up the dining plan to those that use DVC, so maybe the AP users will be next.

Yes the DVC can get it starting in April. :Pinkbounc

We are also DVC members - any idea what the DVC dining plan will be?

Same as it is now, but no tickets required and you won't pay for it until you arrive. It will be connected to the reservation and still based on # of nights.

No, you can not.
The Dining Plan is an add on to the Magic Your Way Package - rack rate room and at least a one day ticket. As has been said before, some have opted to buy one day tickets, which they do not use, to be eligible. But if you have a room discount also, the difference in cost may not make the dining plan a good deal for you.

Unless you are booking DVC for a stay beginning in April, you must purchase a room/tickets package to get the dining plan. As has been said, it's apparently possible to book a package with one-day tickets and get access to it that way.

For you to use the one-day ticket method, you would have to let the Best Rate go and lose your one-day deposit to rebook a package with a rack rate room and one-day base tickets for each person in the party, unless there is a discount available on the packages themselves. I don't have any knowledge of package discounts.

I'm also a DVCer who never paid much attention to the Dining Plan. So if you have an AP, you're not eligible? I thought all DVCers would be eligible.

Wow, that's great about being able to use it as DVC members. That was one of our reasons for not joining. We may just have to look into it again!

I haven't paid a lot of attention either because I won't be using the dining plan. But from what is posted over on the DVC board, it looks like DVC members will not have it tied into tickets, just the room reservation. Therefore, a DVC member with an AP could book the dining plan.

All DVCers staying at a DVC resort on points are eligible in stays after April 1st. The cost is $37.99/night for adults and $10.99/night per child. It covers the same as the other DP. We don't have to buy any special kind of ticket, just have to be staying at one of the 5 DVC's on points. You can begin booking this for stays after 4-1-06 starting tomorrow.

Hope this helps!

I have a similar question to the OP, but wanted to present my scenario to the experts on here to see what they think the best deal for me would be.

I have a FL resident seasonal pass, as do my 2 children. My husband is overseas, so he has no ticket/pass yet. We were thinking of going for 3 days/2 nights to WDW, although we could increase it to 4 days/3 nights if there is a 3 night minimum for getting the dining package (is there?) We haven't booked a room yet.

We were going to buy my husband a SP when he comes home for R&R, but we could modify this if it'd be a better deal to get the dining plan. But to get the dining plan, we have to book a package, right? Which means hotel + tickets + food, correct?

If we were planning on staying at PC, the rate for seasonal passholders is $64/night. The rack rate is only $79/night for value season, so not too much of a savings.

Would it be financially advantageous for us to book a package, then, even though my kids and I already hold seasonal passes? I have read about buying 1 day passes for everyone in my party- can we use those towards credit for renewing a seasonal pass, too? Then, could we use my DH's one day pass to upgrade him to a SP when we get to the parks? And how would that work as a package since we will be staying more than one day? In other words, can I book a MYW package with hotel for 2 (or 3) nights, only one one-day ticket for each of us, and the dining package for as many nights as we are in the hotel?

Thanks in advance and sorry for all the questions!
