so, what is the scoop on the dining plan at DLR? I know that last year it was a nominal savings, but I think I remember reading (somewhere) that the new plan for 2004 actually costs MORE than purchasing everything on its own. Is this true? What is the cost and what is included? And, can you buy JUST the dining plan, or do you have to be on a pkg. to get it? Thanks!:sunny:

Hi scanmom,
Last year we did the 6 day meal plan. We thought that is was great. You get meal coupons. Some are for a Breakfast or Dinner, but the others were a $ amount. We bought the 6 day but had 5 days in the parks. On the 2nd to last night we ate at stake house in the Disneyland hotel which was $$$. And we still had enought coupons for the rest of our stay. Would I buy them again. Yes I would, if not for the savings but for the convence of that is 1 less thing I have to be worried about. It is paid for in invance.

Hi scanmom,
Sorry to post again, but I must be sleeping because I read the rest of your post after I wrote mine. You do have to but a package to buy the meal plan. I had a book from Disney Travel that had all the info, but now that I want it , I can't find it. You can got to any travel agent. and get a free copy of that book. It has all the info you can want.

thanks! We are getting a super AP rate, so I will not be using a package deal. I guess for us the dining plan is out!!! Thanks for the info!

Scanmom--we aren't eligible for the meal plan, either, and I thought I'd pass on what we are doing--we're buying Disney Dollars every week so that we know the money is set aside. We would probably do better to stick the money in savings until we go, but this gives us more piece of mind! We found a site that had some of the menus on it, and did a rough estimate of how much we would spend on meals, plus how much we're setting aside specifically for souvenirs at Disney, and our goal is to save up that many Disney Dollars.

thanks for the tip, but we are leaving this Sunday (march 13th), so I won't have time to do that. I am going to get some Disney Dollars for the kids souvieners. I am hoping that will limit the spending and the "I want's"!!!! What is the site with the menus? I would love to check it out before leaving. I would like to get an idea on food prices as well!! Thanks!:teeth:

Sure, here you go...

Also, if you find yourself in need of cash at DL, here's a tip--if you don't want to pay the ATM fee, you can purchase Disney Dollars with check or credit card.

You can buy the dining plan without a package. you have to buy the Passport Plus Pass. they are selling the 5 day for the price of a three day for $129.00 , the disney travel sells both the passport and meal vouchers. the number is ( 714-781-0228 )
I used my AP for the Ap rate and am getting the ticks and vouchers and am saving a quite a few $$$.
Hope this helps someone.
