Dining Plan

I am used to Disney's Dining Plan and was wondering is Universal Dining option is anything close to Disney's? If not, is it worth it or would be better off just going with the flow and paying out of pocket while there?

We've found food at Universal to be pretty reasonable and the dining plan wouldn't save US money. There are some folks who order very specific things and find they can save a few dollars, but it's not a huge savings.

IMO, no. Disney's is better, in that it includes options at the hotels and not just for in park or city walk dining. In the past (when DS was a Disney kid), we always got the dining plan, if for nothing other than convenience and "pre-paying" that chunk of our vacation budget. With that said, we did get 2 of the QS dining packages that come with the freestyle cup (because we only wanted 2 cups)...we'll parse out our redemptions for when it makes the most sense, financially.
