i booked a 7 night stay in a one bedroom at BLT, lake view many months ago. Today I just book one more day to the end of the vacation at BLT in the same category. I have not called to link the two reservations, but before I do, how would that effect the dining plan? I assume when I call to add dining plan, I would be required to buy 8 days? But if I don't link them, I can get only 7 if I want? Though if they are not linked, we will definitely have to switch rooms.

Just a heads up, I have left a stretch of days not linked, just because I mostly book online and rarely phone, and voila someone behind the scenes has linked them. Not every time, but it happens.

Yes, if they are linked you would be required to buy eight days. If you don't link, someone might as I stated above. And it's never an absolute given to move rooms. I know that they say that, but I have found CMs very helpful while right at the resort. But then again I would just link the extra day anyway.

IF they can be linked, the could without your permission. If you have the DP and they link they, they'll likely cancel it. If they are not linked you may have to change villas and it's very likely you'd have to check in again on the change day even if you can stay in the same room. I don't think it's worth it to have the aggravation just to avoid the one day DP cost. Just plan how to use the extra credits. If you don't want them linked and want the aggravations and risks, there are ways around it.

I have had my reservations linked every single time without asking for it. Someone behind the scenes just does it. I think your dining plan will be cancelled if you only buy for 7 nights and then your reservations are linked. If you truly only want the dining plan for 7 nights, book a total different villa category for your last night.

Best to just email member services to link the reservations and then buy the dining plan for all 8 nights.

And you don't need to call to add the DDP, you can add it from the member website.

I ended up calling to link the two reservations in hopes that we won't have to change rooms. We may as well pay for 8 days of dining. I was surprised that they didn't just link them.....they added the one night to the 7 night so there is only one reservation. I asked if this means we won't need to change rooms and she said yes, there is only one reservation now instead of two:-)

Thanks for the tip on adding dining from the website....that will be convenient.
