Dining Plan?

We have never found it advantageous at any of the parks because of our dining strategy. We don't do snacks (other than the occasional Dole whip) and we want the freedom to eat at any restaurant, on or off property.
We don't eat a lot and we eat light and employ a healthy lifestyle.

There's so many restaurants within walking distance of DLR (or a short drive if you're tired from the parks.) We too prefer the freedom to choose an restaurant without being locked into a dining plan.

The dining plan at DLR isn't "worth it" for a lot of people. Certainly isn't for our family!

You get dollar-for-dollar vouchers. The problem happens when you get a snack (let's say a churro) that's $4, but your snack voucher is for $5. You don't get the $1 in change, or even a $1 voucher to use later... you just lose that $1. Of course, vouchers for larger meals could be even bigger losses!

So, you pay for the vouchers, then end up still either spending money (to cover the difference on a tab) or losing money (when your voucher is worth more than your tab).

Some people prefer to use Disney gift cards to budget for meals at DLR. That way they know exactly how much they have saved and are spending on food. And they get full value of dollar for dollar. If you have $5 on your gift card and buy something for $4, you will still have $1 left to use on your card.

The dining plan is pretty much non existant at DL...it's nothing like the Dining plan at WDW.
You only get vouchers as previous posters have said.
I agree with buying Disney Gift cards.
I'm making my 1st ever trip to DL in Sept. I'll be buying Disney Gift Cards.
I'm making my dining ressies, then I'll approximate the costs of my meals and add in extra for spending money
