At the moment we are looking to go away as a family next August with the dining plan. Me and my wife are going to WDW in October this year for a two week break. Flights booked and looking to book accommodation. Probably Pop century. Not sure about buying the dining plan?
We probably would be happy with quick service. Would it be possible to buy the dining plan at check in? would it cost the same?
thanks

Unfortunately you can't buy the DDP on arrival. It has to be added to your reservation.

You may be best looking at the menus and prices (there are menus on here if you click on the dining link at the top of the page or another accurate site is allears.net) and working out a few sample days based on what you think your family would order and then checking the figures against the per day cost of the dining plan.

It depends on where you want to eat and what you like to eat as to whether it's worth paying for.

There was a time when it was great value for us to pay for it. Now that DD is classed as a Disney adult (10 years) and still eats more along the lines of a child, I could not justify it, but there are cases where it will save you a fair amount of money.

Just make sure when looking at the menus to add 6.5% tax to the totals for your calculations. (Tax on the DDP prices is included)

There is free dining on offer at the moment for next year.

Free Quick service with moderates and full dining plan with SSR/OKW and other deluxes.

No free dining with value resorts.

No free dining with value resorts.

Just thought I would add that last year we were toying with the idea of a split stay at Poly and Pop and ran a quote on the week at Pop. It worked out cheaper to stay at a moderate with free QSDP than it did to add it on at Pop by paying for it. May be worth doing the math on that one too

I would definitely look at a moderate with free qsdp instead of a value, I loving ts at disney though so best value for me would be free full dining plan at ssr which is not much more than a moderate with only qsdp.

For this October try booking through Disney US. There was a free dining offer that includes the values plus room only discounts for October.

The dining plans have to booked in advance as a package with room and tickets - they can not be added at the resort.

Have you looked at booking a value resort with a US agent and getting free QSDP? Have a look here for details - there are limited dates but I noted 19th October to 1st November is included.
(OOps - just noticed the post above saying the same thing - must get glasses checked!!)
