we are thinking about renting points for our next vacation. We are also very interested in the new deluxe dining plan. My question is, is there a way we can rent points and still get passes with the deluxe dining plan?

The owner you rent from can add the DxDDP to the reservation for you. You'll pay for the plan at check-in. As far as park tickets, there is no purchase requirement for that with the DVC version of the dining plan, and you can not pre-pay for tickets with DVC like you can on a can reservation.

You can purchase your park tickets from any authorized seller (like Maple Leaf or Undercover Tourist, etc.) or from Disney, or when you arrive at your resort. Any of these tickets can be transferred to your room key by the concierge desk in the lobby of your hotel.

The price for the DxDDP is $69.99 per adult and $19.99 per child (3 to 9) per night of your stay. The plan must be purchased for everyone in your room for the entire length of your reservation.

The dining plan is connected to the room, not the passes. Some people get that confused. You have to buy the dining plan for each night of your stay, but you can buy passes for any number of days. With DVC, a pass purchase is not required. With CRO, you have to purchase at least a 1 day pass with the package.

Okay, I have a question. I would like to rent points next year and would like to get the dining plan. At the time I will have a 5 year old and a 2 year old. My 2 year old will not have a ticket and is supposed to not be eligible for the dining plan. With DVC, is there any chance that I can buy her the dining plan anyway or are the dining plan points on our tickets? She likes to eat and I would hate for her to have to only eat off of my plate.

Since no park tickets are required for the DVC stay, explain the situation to the member you rent from and have them ask member services. Member Services may say OK, or they may say no, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Last August we added our then 2 year old to the DDP, we had signed the rest of us up for the plan months before and added him within the last week before we left. At first we weren't going to but decided that it would be much easier to get him his own meal and not have to pick off everyone's plate. It's not that a 2 year old is not eligible....they're not required to be on it like every other child 3 or over. Disney will gladly take anyone's money even when people aren't required to do so. You can't go wrong for the price (now $9.99) for the kids meals. The dining plan credits were encoded on our room keys (we had bought park tix separately). It did not matter that our 2 year didn't need a park ticket.

Remember that you can order something for your 2 year and just pay OOP (out of pocket) for it. She doesn't have to eat off your plates.

Also, you can certainly ask the waiter or waitress to bring a plate to the table for her. You can then give her portions of your meals and it will seem like her own meal to her (kind of like at home, right?)

Unless your toddler will eat what is on the children's menus for every meal, you may not want to get the DDP for her, especially if she is a pretty good eater or a picky one. I don't recall a lot of healthy variety on the Disney kids' menus, in spite of all the changes. You might be better off OOP or sharing for her.

True, you could pay out of pocket for the 2 year old but the DDP child's price is only $9.99 per day - you might end up paying more OOP. "Kid's Picks" for lunch are in the $5.00 range and dinners are in the $7.50 range plus tax. Plus DDP includes a snack, too. JMHO, if it were me it would be easier to have us all on the DDP and not have to fiddle with an OOP check for the 2 year old.
