Dining plan with AP discount reservation

I called CRO yesterday and got an AP rate for an upcoming stay at the GF. The reservations agent offered me the dining plan for our stay. Then when they quoted the total, it added up to more than the individual rates I was quoted, by more than $300. After a while on hold, they came back and told me that the system would not book the dining plan with an AP discounted room, and therefore was charging "rack rate" for the room. I then just booked the room only...no dining plan.

What I've since read is that the dining plan is supposed to be available with an AP discount.

Anybody have info on this?

Thanks

My understanding of it is that you do lose the AP discount if you want to add the DDP to an AP reservation. It also turns it into a "package" with package rules (45 day cancellation policy).

If you really want the DDP, I suppose it's better than having to purchase a package with a ticket that you don't need. With the changes to the DDP this year, I personally don't think it's worth it. I think the DDE is a better deal. JMHO

Unless my math skills have turned to mush, I believe we are getting the AP discount with deluxe dining (the description says "August-September special passholder offer plus deluxe dining"). I booked it online.

Total rack rate cost (BC, standard view, 8 nights, deluxe dining, one day tix, 2A, 2C)

$4,648.28

Have to subtract the tix cost from this. I am not sure exactly what the advance purchase cost of one day tix are so I used gate price which equals $279.04 ($75.62 x 2 + 63.90 x 2) so the total might be a few bucks different but not too much, I figure.

New total is $4,369.24

My AP special rate package total is $3,640.28. (BC, standard view, 8 nights, deluxe dining, 2A, 2C)

The difference is $728.96 which divided by 8 (for the number of nights) is $80.99, or pretty much the dollar amount of the AP discount at the BC (rack rate is $325. AP rate is $244. Difference is $81!)

Am I missing something obvious or not-so-obvious here in my calculations? Am I somehow still paying rack rate?

If it looks good, then I guess it IS possible to get the AP discount with dining, OP!

The only reason that would be is if there was not an AP room available. If there is theres no reason you cant get the discounted room with the dining plan

I called back this evening and got a much more helpful and knowledgable CM. He even looked into it and called me back.

Indeed you can get the DDP when you are staying with an AP rate.

Apparently, the CM yesterday was entering an incorrect discount code. All is good now, package booked. It seems like a good deal.

Since this is a package now however, I had to pay in full to book it tonight.

Thanks for your help.
