Dining Plan w/ Tickets from UT?

We are staying at DVC resort through point rental. We were planning on buying our Magic Your Way w/ Park Hopper tickets from Undercover Tourist. If we do that, can we still add the dining plan?* Or do we have to buy our park tickets from Disney to be able to add the dining plan? I wouldn't have thought it mattered where we bought the tickets from, but saw another post on a thread here a week or so ago (can't remember where) that suggested that it does matter.

Thanks!

* We know that the DVC owners we are renting the points from will technically be the ones who have to go to Disney to add the plan for us.

Yes, you can add the DDP to your reservation as DVC members and guests renting points (along with AP holders and military) can add the DDP without having to purchase tickets. With that said, Disney is currently offering a room + DDP package (no ticket purchase required) to everyone (although you have to call as it's not available online). Nobody knows for sure if this will become a permanent thing or is just temporary, but for right now, anyone can book a ticketless package.

You can as already stated.
If you rented through an agency.... you will need to supply your credit card info to the agency and they in turn will give it to the member to add the DP. Please check with the agency for how long in advance as they need to contact the member. If you booked private contact the member and let them know you would like to add the DP and you can do a three way call or just provide your credit card info to the member. make sure you have the member book it and supply you with a confirmation at least a week before arrival in case of any problems. You will be charge the full amount on the day the DP is booked.

It matters (at least it used to - I think they've now made it available to anyone on a ticketless package) on a regular package reservation - not on a DVC reservation. Completely different system.

We are going in late December and we are using my brother's DVC points. My brother just called and booked our dining plan for us. I had to pay for it when we booked it. DVC sent my brother an email within 24 hours with the same reservation number but had added the dining plan to the reservation. He just forwarded the email to me and I made a hard copy to take with me when we check in. I haven't ordered my undercover tourist tickets yet but plan to within the next few weeks. Hope this helps.
