How much do you think a family of six should expect to pay in tips for 6 days on the DDP? I am trying to figure out how much to have in cash. Thank you!!

look up the menu's for where you are dining and try to figure out what each person will eat then times the total by 18%.

I tried that but I am still unsure because on the meal plan it says one drink, one entree, and one desert. If you turn down the desert, do they still add that to the taxable total? Also, is it a set price on the DDP, or is the tax added to the listed price? Ie. all meals are approximately worth $24 so they just charge you that, or does it go by the actual amount of what is ordered? Am I making any sense at all, or just confusing everyone with my own confusion. :confused3

DDP doesn't have a set meal price per say. You don't have to worry about tax, that is included. You don't have to order a dessert if you don't want to. The amount on the menu is what you are charged. You "pay" with your KTTW card. This is only for a la carte restaurants, buffets are set prices.

For four of us eating on the dining plan last trip (DD was under 3), we averaged about $20 - $30 tip per table service restaurant depending on where we were. Sometimes we tipped more than we had to due to excellent service. I would advise to have more then you think you might need. Hope that helps!:confused3

Depends on 2 adults and 4 kids or 4 adults and two kids. Anyone 10 and over pays adult prices.

You could estimate if they are all buffets $35 per adult average and $15 per kid. $170 for two adults two kids 10 and over and 2 younger.

About $30 per meal x 6 = $180 in tips :lmao:

If the buffet is less or more it will even out. Or if you have four actual under 10 and two adults. Its a good estimate if you don't want to do meal by meal!

Enjoy your trip. If your meals are less expensive you'll have some extra money. You can put on a Disney Gift Card and call it your tip card.

I had issues because they bring the card with tip on it. Then I tipped in cash and the servers on more than one occassion still charged my room key! Yikes. :scared1:

Thank you. This helps a lot. We have 2 adults plus DD10 who will count as an adult and 3 actual children. So does this mean you can charge the tip to your room then? That would actually be so much easier. I thought I would need cash for the tips!

When you make your ADR's put in 3 Adults and 3 Children. When you get to the restaurant make sure it's 3/3. You can pay for tips any way you want ie:room charge, credit card, debit card, rewards card, gift card and cash. The tip will be automatically added to your bill and if you just put your KTTW card in there it will be charged. If you want to put it on another form of payment make sure you let the server know prior.

When using the DDP, everything is tied to your room key. Just pay with your room key card. At checkout, all your tips will be on that card (as well as purchases made throughout the parks). Then just pay off your bill with your own charge card.

Yep, just let them charge everything to your room. Then at checkout, use the cash to pay the tips. That's what we did. You can estimate your tips using the menus on AllEars so you know what kind of cash to bring, if you like.
