Since the dining plan seems to be a drink, entree & dessert...
most desserts contain sugar from what I have seen on the menu's.

What if I can not have sugar - Diabetic
Alternatives offered ?

thanks

Most places offer something. If you email dining services they should be able to give you a list. I know Mama Meleose in Hollywood Studios offers a sugar free lemon dessert.

My mom is an insulin dependent diabetic and has never had a problem. Almost all restaurants (if not all) have a sugar free dessert option. If she did not want that, then some offered her fresh fruit.

For table service places, be sure you note that you are on a low sugar diet when you make your reservations. They will note this on your reservation so the chef can prepare to accommodate you. Disney does a great job accommodating allergies and special diets, especially if you let them know in advance.

Be careful. Many of the desserts that are offered as a "healthy alternative" are "no sugar added", not "sugar free". Some are dripping in natural sugars (sorbet, for example), and others have sugar alcohol used as a sweeter.

At Narcoossee's, we were offered a no-sugar added dessert that was a flourless cake (i.e., nut flour, chocolate, eggs, and butter) topped with no-sugar-added ice cream and whipped cream with a garnish of fruit. It was actually worse, for a diabetic, than having the regular almond-crusted cheesecake!

Many of the restaurants have a cheese plate as an option for dessert (in some cases, not even advertised), so there will always be something there for you.

yes ...some sugar free items are worse for you then having a smaller portion of a regular dessert..

I count carbs and some of those are wayyyyyyy over my meal total alone..

When you make ADR's there's a place where you can list dietary needs. A chef will come to your table and discuss those needs. We've done it with my DD and her milk allergy. It has NEVER been an issue or problem. :)

For quick service you can usually get a piece of fruit or a bottle of water for your dessert instead of something sweet. As others have mentioned nearly every place stocks something described as sugar free (ask even if there isn't anything listed on the menu). At ice cream carts they can get a few sugar free options if they don't have any on hand but it takes about 20 mins usually for them to get more supplies delivered. In the past they've had vanilla ice cream and a popsicle Norway quick service has carried a sugar free choc mousse which is really tasty and not very sweet so to my tastes it seemed not too bad for me. WDW doesn't provide any type of carb count or nutritional infor so you have to guesstimate.
