Dining Plan Speculation

I’m sure I could save money not getting the dining plan but I like many others like the all-inclusive feel of a Disney trip with the DDP. It’s nice having everything paid for up front and not constantly looking at the price. Also we have kids and usually do at least 3-4 character meals on a week long trip. Here’s hoping the DDP and FP are both back in some form or fashion by our November trip 🤞

For many the DP soothes their anxiety about paying for meals and by easing their mind and helping them enjoy their vacation that creates value for the program right there not everything has a cash equivalent.

Yes, this is why I want the DDP for my solo trip in a couple of years. Not only will it create peace of mind by ensuring my food budget is already accounted for, if they run the UK free DDP offer I can also save some money.

i personally loved the dining plan mainly for the convenience, but from here on out i won't be getting it. my husband and i just had Gastric Sleeve surgery so at most we'll ever be only able to eat 8oz of food at a time so we will be sharing a lot or ordering off the kids menu a lot. so dining plan would not be worth it for us.

This is my thought exactly. I know it's not the best deal and I'm probably losing a little money, but I am paying for the convenience, and I'm ok with that. I don't have to worry about meals, I know they have already been paid for, I can relax and enjoy myself.

This is my thought here...Just me and my better half each year, but we love the DDP and everything being all inclusive. It make budgeting easier...IMHO

I really hope free dining comes back. We used it once and absolutely loved it! It saved us over $1000. Since we stayed at Pop Century it was a better value than a room discount. We booked a 2 week trip at Pop again in August 2022 and are really hoping free dining returns. If not we will probably downgrade to 1 week.

Free dining would be great but I don’t see it happening year. But I’d be satisfied with just offering the dining plan sometime soon, paid or free, lol.

Disney is going to hold off on free dining until they can figure out where demand will be post-revenge travel. Dining plan should come out once they get the restaurants needed to be open again.

What worries me more is that for the dinning credits, none of the AKL Jambo House ones are on the list and when looking to book on the UK site to book a trip AKL isn't listed at all.

I really hope they plan to open it sooner rather than later.

Yeah they doesn't sound like dining plan returning but some form of credits that can be used toward dining
Sounds like a discount. The credit discounts the cost of a meal.
Prior to DDP the dining package was basically a discount plan.

Info on dining credits. Surely they won’t offer one scheme for international guests and something different for US
Probably not, but international guests sometimes have access to ticket options not available to US guests.
Looks like the next dining plan will offer a dollar credit toward the cost of a meal.

The credits vary by resort category. You can use your dollar credit however you like. You could use your total credits for your entire stay for one expensive signature meal.

Sounds more like a room discount via a dining credit instead of a cash discount.

Disney may have to based on the UK’s consumer protection laws which prevent the vendor from material changes in a prepaid vacation product. So while DDP may be dead Disney needs to offer something equivalent to the DDP for its UK guests. and at first look this does by making the meals no additional cost items.

They sure will. They almost always offer better deals to the UK. I've thought about getting dual citizenship since I have family across the pond to take advantage, but it's too much effort just for Disney.
