dining plan room only

hello,

i made a room only reservation at fort wilderness camping for january 10 to 17 2009 because after reading some posts on this board, i found that it is cheaper for me (in canada) to buy park tickets at a disney store (i would save 250$ for on a 7 day pass for 3 adults and 2 children)

but i want the dinner plan!

i was about to go to disney store and buy my tickets when just a few minutes ago i stumbled on a site where they say that you cannot add the dinner plan to a room only reservation; at least one day park ticket must be included.

BUT on the disney reservation site, in small print, it does not say so! this is the small print:

Disney Dining plans cannot be purchased separately. They are one component of the following packages: Magic Your Way Package Plus Quick-Service Dining; Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining; Magic Your Way Package Plus Deluxe Dining; Magic Your Way Premium Package; Magic Your Way Platinum Package; Room and Quick-Service Dining Package; Room and Dining Package; Room and Deluxe Dining Package. To enjoy a Disney Dining plan, you must purchase one of these packages prior to your arrival. These packages are not available for purchase after arrival.


I am under the impression that if i call disney reservations and ask them to add the dining plan, it should work! or at least i hope.

You cannot add the dining plan to a room only reservation. You must book a package.

If you have an annual pass, you may be able to book a room/dining package (these are available only to annual passholders) if one is available. If you are not an annual passholder, you must purchase at least a 1-day base ticket for everyone on your reservation over age 3 in order to add the dining plan.

Once you add your tickets and dining plan, you no longer have a room-only reservation. You have a package reservation, which is now subject to the change, cancellation and payment policies of package reservations. The main difference is that where a room-only reservation may be cancelled without penalty up to 5 days from check-in, a package reservation must be cancelled more than 45 days prior to check-in to avoid a cancellation fee.

Welcome to the boards!

I think you have to have a magic your way ticket (at least one day) in your package to get the dining packages.

But call and make sure. Maybe the rules have changed for 2009.

yes, i read the same information as you give me but i'm trying to point out that on the disney reservation site, in the fine print, it says that the dining plan can be purchased with a room reservation: Room and Dining Package and with room &ticket package also: Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining;

Disney Dining plans cannot be purchased separately. They are one component of the following packages: Room and Dining Package;

for me, it seems pretty streight forward... am i missing something?

The room/dining packages can only be booked by annual passholders. If you will not have an annual pass to present at check-in, the only way for you to add the dining plan is to purchase tickets with your package.
