Okay experts I need your advice. I have to book my ressies soon (16 days)and I still can't figure out where is the best place to book a "romantic" meal alone with Dh for our 10th anniversary. I am trying to keep in budget and use one of the dining meal "tickets" that night. 4 GPs will be watching the girls so I want the best date night possible. :wizard:

Also do you know if any place on the the plan has the :cake: people talk about so I can order (extra charge) it there or do I have to order it and have sent somewhere? I want to try to get the same flavor as our wedding cake.

Any Advice? TIA!

What about the Castle? I don't know that much about the dining plan or how many credits that is, but I think it's only one. I can't think of a more romantic place. Any restaurant will do a cake and take special requests if you call a couple of days in advance.

I wasnt on the dining plan, but DH and I have spent our past 2 anniversaries (9th & 10th) at Yachtsman Steakhouse. We have had amazing meals there and gotten a nice dessert sampler both times, and I even got a rose the last time. Our first time there we were seated in a little cove with only 1 table next to us and it was empty for most of our meal. This last time we were more in the middle area, but it wasnt incredibly busy or bothersome.

Once ater dinner we went to Epcot to catch Illuminations, then on to Jellyrolls for some fun, and the other we went to PI.

Ok...

DEFINATELY California Grill on top of the Contemporary Resort....try to get an ADR for about an hour before Wishes starts. The restaurant is beautiful, quiet, and romantic, and there is an observation deck that you and your husband can go out on where you can see the entire kingdom...and have (in my opinion) one of the best views of the fireworks. The music is played at the hotel so you feel like you are actually down there on Main Street. Trust me when I say....the night will be unforgettable....what a nice way to spend the evening!! :earsboy:

I would agree with Tinkerbell. We celebrated our 25th at Cali last Nov. A night to remember for sure. When booking be sure to mention the special event--and mention it again when checking in before going up in the private elevator. You will want to ask for a table next to the window on the MK side.

The OP wanted to "keep it cheap" by using a dining plan credit. The California Grill requires the use of TWO table service credits for each meal. It is considered a signature dining experience.

Good luck finding that special spot.

You are sooo right! This is our very favorite WDW restaurant. It takes 2 credits as it is a signature eaterie. We prefer to view the MK fireworks from CA Grill over being crowded in on Main St. We will be there in just 34 days and I CAN'T WAIT!!! :flower:

Let's see... making ADRs sixteen days from now... plus ninety days to actual vacation,,, sounds like January 2006, right? To the best of my knowledge, Coral Reef in Epcot becomes a one-Table-Service-credit restaurant effective 2006.

Thanks for all the ideas!!!!

It not of the question for us to use 2 dinning credits. So I am keeping all in mind. I have my heart set on the castle cake for dessert.

Thank you!

PaulaSue,
Reading your post made me smile because I could've written it! I too am the mother of 3 little girls who just last month celebrated my 10th anniversary at WDW! :0) Small world. Anyway, I have two experiences to nominate (although one won't help you budget-wise!). First is Le Cellier in Canada. We had a wonderful & romantic steak dinner there (it's kind of dark). Someone told me it's now the #2 restaurant in all of WDW (behind Cali Grill I imagine). Our personal fave was Shula's Steakhouse at the Dolphin. It was easily the most romantic meal we had. Only problem was it's not on the dining plan. :0( My hubby is on a quest though to eat at all top 10 steakhouses across the country and this constituted #5 so he didn't care about the price. I will say there we shared the creme brulee dessert for 2 and the waiter took it off our bill as a present to us ($13). Even their tea was fantastic! If you really want a truly remarkable meal in a romantic setting (we were practically alone in our section of the restaurant), go to Shula's and pay out of pocket. Otherwise, you can't beat Le Cellier. It was the only place I saw all week that people were getting turned away in droves without a reservation. Very popular.
Good luck with your decision. I wish I could do it all over again! :love2:

What?! What else do you know as far as credit changes? Does this mean something else is going to 2 credits?! My husband and I wondered how long they were going to leave Le Cellier a one credit place- it's too good! :0)

How about the castle for dinner?
DH and I will be celebrating our 10 yr while we're there and that's where we're heading :lovestruc

Have and great time and Happy Anniversary! :wizard:

The castle we will try to get ressie for a charater meal with all 9 of us so I was thinking of trying another place. It is my first time back in many years and I want to hit all the good places. I wouldn't have a chance to experience any but maybe one without doing the dining plan, this is our Dream "Family" trip. pirate: (nicole wanted me to add the pirate)

I agree with Le Cellier in Canada, Most resort sit down restaurants cost two points on the food plan while park restaurants are all usually one. We will be down there this January to, for our 4th anniversary :) and last year we ate at Le Cellier and it is completely romantic, dark and inviting.

Plus the food is really very good.
