Dining Plan Reduction

Where are you getting the $44.00 amount for quick service. Has this information been posted somewhere?

I don't think actual prices have been published for 2017 yet, but 2016 price for the QS dining plan is $44.13, and you can just about bet that it won't decrease in price. It'll either stay the same (unlikely) or go up (likely).

So far it's still showing that character meals are 1 credit, not CRT, but the usual ones. I like the changes to the regular plan so far, my mind might change tomorrow when I see the price increase.

I don't mind it because 99% of the time I would not purchase the desserts at any of the in-park QS places. Just not really my thing. I would rather have an extra snack to eat at some point throughout the day - maybe just grab a muffin or pastry in the morning, but still have my other snack for some ice cream later in the day.

Any speculation on what the kids' QS meals will be like since they currently have their meals bundled together with entree/drink/side. If it stays that way, then they'd basically gain an extra snack with the regular DDP, even though they were not entitled to the dessert like the adults.

The main reason we didn't get the DDP was because it caused jealousy problems with my two youngest kids... this could be good.

Definitely a lost entitlement per day on the QS plan for 2017.

Yes this exactly.

Total value has been decreased. Is it worth it to most because they use the snack credits more than dessert, yes, but overall the value has gone down from what they offer right now.

Less for more is never a good thing in my opinion !

It's only "less" on the quick-service plan. And, I suppose, if you use deluxe credits for counter service meals. But it's a zero-net change on the "regular" plan.

Correct.

A handful of people will see "value" as flexibility, and that's fine...there is value for some in that.

Monetarily...it's a loser, plain and simple. The QS dining plan has gone from 5 "snack eligible" (drink/dessert) entitlements to 4.

Somewhat confused ( as usual!). I thought on DDP, you could switch out dessert and /or drink for an additional side. So next year, that will not be an option?

That is still an option, but you no longer have a dessert credit to do this. You can still swap out the drink entitlement.

Kid's meals will remain the same, so yes they do get an extra snack. Remember the kid's QS meals can be used to purchase and adult meal if you desire, but then, of course, they would lose the dessert.

Wait... Is Coronado Springs NOT on the 2017 Dining Plan??????

If you're talking about the restaurants at Coronado Springs and you're looking at the 2017 brochure, you can rest easy. Those restaurants are not owned by Disney and haven't signed their contracts yet. They should show up on the list closer to 2017.

It sounds to me that nothing is lost with this change. They just took the dessert from the QS meal (which you had to get at the time you order, whether you were going to eat it or not) and made it a second snack which you can now get whenever you wish.

They took the dessert from BOTH QS meals, and only replaced them with ONE snack.

Yes, I saw that afterwards. So if you get the regular dining plan or the deluxe dining plan, you don't really lose anything so it still might be worth the money. But if you get the quick service plan, you do lose one dessert/snack so obviously value is lost. If they kept it as a fair exchange, there should be 3 snacks on the QS Plan.

If you use deluxe credits for counter service meals, then you've lost "value" on that plan, too. Only the "regular" plan is unaffected.

Wait... Is Coronado Springs NOT on the 2017 Dining Plan??????
Your question doesn't make sense. Coronado Springs is a hotel, not a restaurant. If you're referring to the restaurant at Coronado Springs, I believe it is owned by a third-party, which means it will be updated when they renew their contract sometime around December.

I see this as a gain if you eat at places with the yuck prepackaged deserts. I'd trade in two of those "Cakes" for an extra ice cream sundae at the MK ice cream parlor!
I wonder if you eat at a resort if you can switch the drink out with a desert or side?
