Dining plan question

I’m not sure if anyone has been in a similar situation as us, but I’m just trying to think ahead and figure out how the below would work.

I know that if I purchase a dining plan, I need to purchase it for all people on the room reservation. But, how would this work if I added an additional person onto the reservation after I purchased the dining plan for the people on the original reservation?

So right now I have a room reservation for 3 of us and I was going to purchase the dining plan. I have a daughter who might join us, but won’t know until the last minute. If she can make it, will I be able to add her to our room reservation by just editing the reservation on the DVC site and then calling to add the dining plan for her? Or, would it be too late to purchase the dining plan and I would be stuck paying out of pocket for her?

How "last minute" will she decide? I think the dining plan must be added (her added) at least 3 days prior to check-in.

You must add the dinning plan at least 48 hours before arrival. I assume OP could call & add their daughter to the reservation & to the dinning plan at the same time, but I’d likely call and verify w/ MS.

Hi. I was wondering if you ever ended up adding your daughter to the reservation and did it automatically add her to the dining plan or did you have to call? In a similar situation where my sister might be joining us and we have the dining plan.

I'd be interested to know too as I have a similar problem. I have a booking but hubby might join us on day 8 of our trip but might not. Can I add him onto my booking after I have bought the dining plan (say a day before he arrives). Thanks

You have to add it to the reservation at least 48 hours before the start of the trip.

So, he has to have it prior to the start of the trip.

In my case, the last (and final) time I used the DDP was December 2024. We added my mom after the fact, and they made us add her to DDP. We didn't have choice one way or the other.

Yes. A called to add her as we were leaving to the airport the day before. The CM said something like "thanks for letting us know you are adding *mom* to the reservation. Now hang on while I bring up the screen to take your credit card info for the DDP".
