We are eating at Mama Melrose, Rainforest Cafe in Animal Kingdom, Liberty Tree Tavern, Whispering Canyon Cafe and Garden Grill. Do all these take the Dining Plan? We have a room only reservation right now but when I was making my ADRs the lady suggested we get the Dining Plan because it would be 38.00 a day for each of us to eat. Can we add this on to a room only reservation? Is it really only 38.00 a day? That's pretty cheap. It will bve me, my husband, 13 DD and 11 DD. Thanks so much :goodvibes

You can't add it to a room-only reservation - you have to switch your room only to a package, with at least a 1 day ticket. You sort of have to crunch the numbers yourself to see if it makes sense for you. We don't do the dining plan because I don't like the "pressure" of being tied to so many ADRs on our trips - think the TS meals take away too much touring time. Other people swear by the dining plan and really enjoy the TS meals.

As far as I know, all places "accept" the dining plan except for Victoria & Albert's (and I'm not sure about that).

Yes, they all take the dining plan.

Yes, the Dining Plan is $38 per day, though your do need to have it for all days of your stay and have tickets to the parks for all days of your stay.

Looking at your restaurants, it would make sense for you to have it. Im assuming all places above are for dinner?? If that is the case, it would cost $25 - $35 for the dinners. The dining plan is 1 table service, 1 counter service and a snack. For the $35 dinners, you will basically be spending $3 on lunch and a snack!

Now that I think about it, your kids are still pretty young...they may still be into burgers over steaks. In that case, you may be spending just as much, if not more on the dining plan.

Go to AllEars.com and look at the menus where you will be eating. Try to calculate a little bit how much it would cost and see if it would be worth it for you.

Good Luck and Enjoy!

If my information is correct they DO not take Rainforest Cafe on the DDP. The others are on there.

Vicki c is correct in that you would have to make your room only into a package by purchasing atleast a 1 day park ticket per person to add the DDP. Also....just to clarify (and it may already be clear to you), the $38/day cost is per person......and since your 2 DD's are over age 10 they are priced as adults.....so your DDP cost would be $152/day for the 4 of you times however many nights you're staying. We love the DDP and can't go to Disney without it :goodvibes.

This is correct, The Rainforest Cafe in Animal Kingdom and Down Town Disney NO NOT take the WDW dining plan. There are not Disney owned and have never taken the dining plan.

Also, if you do choose to get the dining plan added to your trip, it has to be added at least 72 hours before your check in time.

We love, love, love the dining plan and get it for every trip!!

Wow a lot of wrong info here. Rainforest cafe does NOT take DDP. DDP is based off the number of nights and you do NOT need to have tickets for all days, only one.

Planet Hollywood and Ragland Road take DDP

Thanks so much everyone. I'll probably go ahead and add it. So you get a snack, counter service and then our table service dinner right? Do I need to make ressies for counter service or are those just walk up type places? I had figured it would cost us about 200.00 per day to eat so I would save some with the dining plan ;)

Yes, you get 1 snack, 1 counter service and 1 table service per person per night you are staying, but you can use the credits anytime you want. You can use a table service credit for breakfast, lunch or dinner reservations and visa versa with counter service credits. Some mornings we used snack credits for breakfast items on our last trip. And no, you can walk up to counter service restaurants at any time and eat - you do not need ADRs for counter service. Have a great trip!:thumbsup2

Dont forget you need to have theme park tickets on your reservation to add the DDP

rainforest doesn not take the DDP. and it is 37.99 a person per day.

The above information is all correct :thumbsup2

No you do not need an ADR for any counter meal...And it really is worth the price...We always save a lot of money with the plan...

If you are not doing a Table Service for breakfast try to use your snack credits or pay OOP...Breakfast items at a counter service tend to be really cheap and you do not get the dessert with a breakfast meal...Better to use your CS credits for lunch or dinner...Use TS credits for any meal you think you will enjoy....There are tons of snack items available around the parks and at the resort...As stated, you can use your credits in any order you want and can use them on day of check-out as well even though you do not get any credits for that day.

So what counts as a snack? Like you walk up somewhere and get an ice cream? Sorry I'm so dense but this is my first trip :rotfl:

A lot of things count....You will know because each item on the plan will have a small white/purple box next to it with DP Snack Code to let you know it is on the plan...Take a look at the link...You will be happy to see how many things are covered as a snack!
