Question! ?

I understand that everyone in my party has to purchase the Disney Dining Plan... My question is this.. If we go to dinner, can I use one of mine, and share my meal with someone else? I know that The Plan goes day by day, so we have to use them all within the time allotted, but Can we use one here, one there, and save some of our table service meals to be used at the signature dining that requires more than one Meal? Thanks in Advance! All opinions and responses welcome!!

I think you have a couple of misconceptions here.
1. Everyone in the same *room* has to get the DDP ... if you have multiple rooms or dine with people who aren't staying in the hotel, then the other people don't have to have the DDP. (But you cannot use your credits to get meals for someone not on the DDP.)
2. It's not "day by day." When you check in, you get all the credits for the full stay--you can use them all right then if you want, or save them all until the last day (they expire at 11:59 pm the day you check out), or spread them out however you want.

To answer your questions: at most sit-down and counter-service places, yes you can share (the restaurant has the right to refuse, but there are very few reports of them actually doing so). You can't share at buffets or "family-style" meals, though. You can definitely save credits to be used at Signature restaurants ... or you can go to a Signature restaurant right away and then share (or buy meals out of pocket) later on.

That's a great idea. I'd love to try some of the signature for me and the hubs, but have never wanted part with the credits. I'd buy an app OOP share the meal. Then either share the dessert or buy another OOP depending on how full we were. Awesome!

There are a couple of caveats:

1) Sharing is never permitted at buffets or all you can eat fixed menu restaurants. Only exception is children under age 3.

2) We have several reports that Beaches & Cream does not permit sharing entrees on the dining plan. We have other scattered reports of people being turned down at various restaurants when they asked to share a plate but nothing consistent other than B&C (there are other, contemporaneous reports of people being allowed to share at the exact same restaurants). It may actually come down to the server you get and how they interpret the "rules."
