My parents were planning on joining us for our trip in January, largely to help out with our baby who will be 4 months old at the time. We offered to pay for their room in excahange for a few hours of babysitting (an afternoon at the MK so we could ride "the big rides" all together with our older sons, an evening for DH and I to eat at Yachtsman and an evening for the Pirate and Princess Party letting my parents take baby back earlier). My father just found out that he will most likely not be able to join us as a project he has been working on for a while now has a launch date set for during our trip. He can't be gone during it's first days live so he will have to stay home. My mother is thinking she will come but only for 2, maybe 3 nights in the middle of the trip. She has said she'd be fine sharing a room with us for those nights if it is OK with us. DH and I are debating that.

IF she stays in the room with us, how will that work since we will have the dining plan (assuming no major changes for 2007)? I know there is an extra adult charge and that everyone in the room must have the same package components. If she is only going to be there a couple of nights and we are there for a week, can we have her added to the room just for those nights at check in but NOT added to the dining plan? For only a couple of days I have some old tickets with single days left on them that I can give her for the parks and we don't mind paying OOP for her dining. We won't be doing any EMH parks so it's not an issue with that. We are staying at the GF in a room with an occupancy limit of 5 + 1 child under 3 so we are fine on that (this would give us 3 adults and 3 kids ages 6, 4 and 4 months). I hate to have to pay $25 + tax per night X 7 nights of extra adult "fees" when we will only have an extra adult for 2 nights. Will they allow us to just let them know at check in that on these 2 nights we will have an extra person? I'm fine with paying it for the nights she is there and I know the dining plan can not be added at check in so I'm OK with her not having that. It just seems a waste to spend $25/day in extra adult charges AND $38/day in dining plan charges for 5 nights that she won't be there. When you consider that I could give her 3 days worth of park hoppers, that would negate 2 nights savings on the dining plan for 1 person (since she would have to get a package to get the plan), to pay for 7 nights extra charges + dining plan would basically cover 1 1/2 nights in a regular room at the GF doing AAA room only!

Just curious what the best way to handle that is...I'm thinking getting her a separate room makes the most sense. :confused3

Sorry to say the DDP is all or nothing. Everyone on the reservation has to be on the plan and for the same amount of time, as your reservation.

Getting a seperate room does make the most sense and it will be so much nicer for everyone. There truly will not be much room with 3 adults and 3 kids.

I agree with Sammie, get another room.

It will solve the problems with the dining plan and extra adult fee and give you more space. As far as I know when you book a package it is all or nothing. I have asked, and have been told that there is no way to book a package that way (with one person there for only part of it).
