We have a trip booked for May staying at Wilderness Lodge/Bay Lake Tower thru DVC. When we booked our airfare, it was cheaper to add two days at a Value onto the beginning of our trip (airfare was MUCH cheaper 2 days earlier). Anyway, I was thinking about adding the quick service plan lnto our trip for the two days we are at All Star but it is cheaper to book the room thru Orbitz. Is anyone still with me? Lol. My question is...can I add the QS dining plan to my stay for two nights at All Star if I already have my park tickets (annual pass) and book my room they Orbitz?

No. Rooms from Orbitz are room-only reservations and cannot be converted to a dining plan.

Yes, you can add it. You have to call Disney and request that it be converted to a ticketless package. Note that package rules apply regarding deposits, cancellations, etc. You should be able to keep your same room rate, though.

Are you sure about this one? It seems like this would be like a TA reservation that only the TA could modify, but I really don't know.

I think this is my question. The savings thru Orbitz isn’t enough for me to do that instead of be dining package.

I couldn't add a dining plan when I booked a room through Expedia but maybe Orbitz has a different agreement w/ Disney:confused:

Can’t be done. You can book the room, and you can also buy park tickets from Orbitz, but these are not packages in the Disney sense of the word.

I know annual pass members can add the dining plan to room only reservations. I suspect my issue will be that it is technically booked through a TA.

As far as I know, having booked through Orbitz before, these are not treated as typical TA reservations. Instead, they’re rooms that are sold off in bulk to these travel sites.

When I booked they Orbitz two years ago, I had to contact them directly to add Magical Express. Disney couldn’t do it for me.

Thanks for the reply everyone. It seems like it’s not worth the couple of dollars I would save going thru Orbitz. I think I’m gojng to book directly wih Disney. Much less of a hastle and they will also book my Magical Express for me.

The dining plan can be added to ANY room only reservation made through Disney...not just for annual pass members. There *may* be a minimum stay requirement, but that's the only possible restriction that I'm aware of.

I remember reading that Disney was allowing some third-party sites to sell the dining plan, maybe on a trial basis. I haven’t seen anything in the last couple months. But, even then, it had to be booked with the reservation through the third-party vendor.

You can't add a dining plan on a room booked through a third party reseller. Orbitz et al are third party resellers, not travel agents. Disney has sold them a block of rooms, and Orbitz is reselling those rooms; they're not booking through Disney.

There are some booking agents, like those that go through some airlines, that operate as travel agents and can book packages with dining and tickets by going through Disney. Orbitz can sell the room and the tickets only as separate entities, so you can't add a dining plan to that.

Expedia owns Orbitz - so it's the same with them.

I'm so pleased i read this on the off chance tonight, .im literally about to book our stay through travel republic as they had a good deposit only deal on, for our stay in April and we have Aps so don't need tickets, I didn't realise I couldn't add dining plan if not booked through disney direct!
So I've just saved myself a big hassle
And I'll have to book through disney instead,

You can book through a travel agent. Just not through a third party reseller. I don't know what travel republic is, and I understand you are from the UK, so your rules might be different.
