I am using the dining plan for my trip in may!!!! I am wondering if anyone ever had a problem ordering what they want when using the dining plan? For example if I go to coral reef can I order the lobster? I guess I am asking if your choices are limited. Thanks for the help.

When we used the Dining Plan in October, nothing was excluded from the menu itself. What was excluded were "Add-Ons". For example adding shrimp to your filet. Teppanyaki in Japan removed the lobster dinner, and I believe it became an Add On, so it was not available.
I do not know about the lobster specifically. I would think it would be based on how it appears on the menu, as I mentioned above.

When we were there 2 weeks ago, as long as we stuck to the formula for TS meals - 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert, 1 drink - we were never told something was excluded. The only thing we were told was DD6 had to order off the children's menu. However, at Coral Reef, there were no children's appetizers, so she did get to pick an appetizer from the adult menu.

I don't remember seeing the Lobster on the menu at Coral Reef.

We had the dining plan on our last trip. We have never ate so much food... The drinks on the plan are limited to soft drink, milk, juice, tea & coffee. We found that the 2 credit restaurant had no limations on the food we ordered. At Teppanyaki's which was 1 credit the appetizers , drinks and desserts were very limited but you were told what was included right away. Le Ceiller which was also one credit allowed us to order the lobster & steak however it was the worst service we had experience our server was rude and slow. If we do the plan again we will share some meals.
Have a great trip!

At Tangerine Cafe, the only dessert that was allowed was baklava (and not the best baklava, if you ask me).

A couple of nice surprises...at Spoodles, you could add on shrimp and scallops (DH added on shrimp to his steak, but doesn't care for scallops). Also, at Wolfgang Puck Cafe, I had read that there was a surcharge for certain items, but we were told that we could order any entree.

Jaime, what were you limited to at tepp? I was also wondering can you have soda with your meal and then have coffee with your dessert? I wonder if I call dining they can give me some kind of list of what is and is not included.

At Restaurant Marrakesh, we were not able to order either of the two large "feasts" that are priced per person and served family style - I don't remember the names. They did let us "upgrade" the side dish on our entrees to couscous for free. Also, our waiter told us at first that we were limited to only the Baklava for dessert, but when it came time to order, he let us order anything we wanted (I had the Baklava anyway, my wife had the Crepes Atlas).

Interestingly, at O'Hana, our server mentioned (without us asking) that we could order a specialty drink (non-alcoholic) _in addition to_ the Coke/Tea/etc. on the Dining Plan. I don't think this is usual at most places, and I'm not sure if it was an exception or the rule at O'Hana.

I sold my DH on the idea of the dining plan because I told him we can order what we would anyway and save money! I would hate to get to WDW and get a surprise when we go to dinner. Lobster is usally a special on the menu at CR and I think it is on allears.net on their menu. Anyway thanks for all the help!

I think you are entitled to any regular entree on the menu at a TS (no add ons such as shrimp skewers in addition to your steak etc...)

If I were you, Id have already made my adrs. My trips a year away, and I already know exactly what I want. This drives DH a little  but He'll thank me later :teacher:

Lobster was taken off the menu at CR last fall. We had never had it & were looking forward to trying it. We were told it had been taken off the week before we were there - which is probably right because I read a restaurant review from someone at wdw the day before we left & they had the lobster.
We were told it was because of the dining plan. I read other posts confirming that it was removed from the menu. If it's still listed on Allears, it may be an outdated menu.
