8 nights

Hmmm.. I guess they dont figure us to eat on the last day? We were planning on catching a later flight so we'd have another day in Disney, but if this is the case, we'd have to pay a whole day of food besides the money we're paying for the dining plan.. Something else to think about I guess..

I had the same thoughts, but when I actually sat down and figured how/what we would eat, it really did come out okay. I don't think that we would have both a TS meal, and a counter service meal every single day. There would be at least one day that we had one or the other. So, I am planning on using those credits for the day we leave. Example...we already have HDDR paid for, on night before we leave. So that leaves us all with one TS meal to play with. I am also planning on doing GF Cafe for birthday lunch that day, but using DDE, rather than DDP.So, I have an extra counter meal credit per person also.
So, our last day will have a character breakfast at Cape May and a counter lunch someplace before we leave for the airport.

You get 8 nights, but you can use them over the 9 days. Your credits start when you check in and last until midnight of the day you check out.
Here is what we did 6 nights, 5 days of tickets:
Day one - check in, no parks, one CS for supper
Day two - park, 1TS, 1 CS
Day three - park, 2 TS
Day four - park, 1 TS, 1 CS
Day five - park, 1 TS, 1 CS
Day six - park, 1 TS, 1 CS
Day severn - checkout, no park, 1 CS (though we had some left over b/c we had split some, so you could technically use them and all your leftover snacks up on your last park day.)

Hope that helps! :sunny:

You could pay out of pocket for a kids meal or two and save the credits for your adult meals on the last day.

I came up with an Excel Spreadsheet to help me plan my meals with the Dining Plan. It's posted on the first page of the Dining FAQ, but you might have missed it.

Here it is:
http://personalpages.tds.net/~rb/DIS/MYM-Dining-Planner.xls

You are welcome to copy, download or change it for your own use. The spreadsheet is protected so the fields that are calculated wouldn't be accidentally overwritten, but it doesn't have a password so you can unprotect it if you wish.

Bettyann, the dining plan isn't a "per day" plan.. it gives you all your credits up front, and you can do what you want with them from check in all the way until midnight of check out day. As Disneymom5 points out, your credits will be "pooled" into the computer system as soon as you check in. Either you are going to have to pay for some meals out of pocket, or (if you are extremely light eaters) you can share most of your meals to stretch out your credits to cover all your meals. Remember, you only get 2/3 of your meals covered anyway with the meal plan (and even less if you do signature dining or a dinner show). If you like to eat at TS restaurants, the best way to do that would be to pay out of pocket for your kid's meals (as they are cheap), and use the TS credits just for the adults.

Figure it this way...
While, sure, you can check into your Disney Resort as early as 6 AM, and any components of your room/package are available for use from the moment you check in until midnight of the day you check out, standard hotel times are 3 PM check-in and 11 AM check-out.
I realize this is NOT your situation, since you're spending your check-out day in the area, but for the most part the Dining Plan would cover: Your dinner the day you check in; one table service meal, one counter service meal and one snack each day you're there, and a counter service meal and a snack the day you check out. So, yes, you may end up paying out of pocket for a meal that last day - or maybe not. Please don't let the Dining Plan situation affect how late you decide to stay!

Thanks for all the replys.. I definitely wont let the dining decide how long we will stay... I just needed to make sure I understood so I know whether or not I want to do the dining plan or whether we are just going to pay out of pocket while there.. I completely understand the reasoning behind it now that its said to me.. I guess alot of people do leave that last day and dont necessarily stay all day..
