About a year ago, I read here (I think) that DVC members can book the dining plan for part of the trip. Is this still available? I have a reservation for the food and wine festival. I would like to eat sit down a few days, but I think the food and wine booths will fill me most days. Was at the Flower and Garden Festival and found their booth offerings to be quite filling. Is that option still available?

Only with a split stay where you change room size, view, resort, etc.

It was allowed for awhile, they had to create separate reservations but stay in the same room. It got to be too much of a mess system wise and it was discontinued.

The only way to do it is to have a split stay in another room.

So you change resorts, change room size to get a separate reservation number so you can get the dining plan for one stay or the other.

I wish they would just let you do this too. I don't want to have to split our reservation though so we are skipping the dining plan.

Lets say out of curiousity, you had a 5 day reservation at a resort. Could you have it split into separate reservations of 2 and 3 days? Or just book 2 days and then 3 days with separate reservation numbers? Could they then be linked where you have to check out and check in without switching rooms, but you would have 2 separate reservations?

Just curious. We don't like the dining plan because of all the planning involved with advanced reservations, but if we could select 2 or 3 days worth of meal plan on a longer trip that would certainly interest me. Since we will be staying 14 nights over a year starting in August we will be buying a TIW card.

No, it has to be totally separate. That was the issue when they tried exactly that, people were trying to string together several reservations where they would get dining every other day.
