Dining plan for entire stay?

Hello! We are in the midst of planning a trip to WDW with some friends for early next year. I may need to call this reservation in versus doing it online because the only option online at least tends to be that you have to have a dining plan match the number of room nights. Does anyone know if this is the only option (and eat more on other days to use up the credits) or can we call to take days off of the plan? Thanks!

I am not totally sure, but I think the dining plan always needs to match the total nights staying.

The only option for the plan is your credits equal the number of nights on the reservation. On the regular plan it is one quick serve, one table service, one snack per person per night. You can use any credit any day of your trip. You don't have to do each per day. If you think it will be too much food, then skip the plan and pay as you go.

It doesn't matter if you book online or over the phone because the dining plan must be match the number of nights you will be staying. Also, it has to be for everyone in the room 3 years and older.

All of your dining credits will be given to you when you check in so you can use them whenever you wish. You could theoretically use up to 6 TS credits in one day (e. g. 2 credit CRT for breakfast, 2 credit lunch at Le Cellier, 2 credit dinner at a sig or dinner show) if you think there will be some days when you won't be using your credits. The credits expire at 11:59 PM on the day you check out.

My husband and I want to do Deluxe Dining, but don't want the whole trip to be structured and planned. SO we're going to do a package deal the first 4 nights of the trip and then change to room only the last part of the trip. This way we get all the signature dining we want and then the last two nights we are going to wing it. Best of both worlds, since I'm a planner and he's not!

If we stay at the same resort with this type of split we more than likely will have to move rooms, which I'm okay with! A change of scenery is always nice!

So having 2 entirely different reservations is the only way to do this. Remember that with the dining plan you have the day of arrival and the day of departure to use those credits. it is a use of lose situation.

How would it work if people are arriving on different days. My kids might get there a day or two before I do. If we do a dining plan, would my points start the day I get there if we are staying in the same room?

You would all have the dining plan for the full amount of nights. Once the reservation is checked into, the credits are activated.

They're in a giant pool so it's not really set up that you have individual points.

If the reservation is for 6 nights (example) everyone would be receiving, and paying for 6 nights worth of credits.

Ok, thanks! The would allow us to eat at the nicer places I think--saving up two TS credits. Still not sure we are going but trying to get my ducks in a row.

Any dining plan must be purchased for every night of a reservation, for all persons listed on that reservation age 3 or over. Doesn't matter when they're arriving, they are allotted dining credits for the entire stay. Of course anyone on the room reservation can use those credits (although you can't use them to buy meals for guests who aren't on the reservation)
