Hi
Has anyone used their Disney Dining Plan for dinner
at "The California Grill"? Can it be used? Are there any
limits? With prices being as high as they are, buying the
plan would be well worth it for just that meal.

Thanks,
Chuck :earsboy:

DH and I used DDP last year and have an ADR for Cali Grill in 25 days again. It requires 2 TS credits per person, but we were not limited in our choices. (This was last year - so this might have changed.) DH and I both loved it. For apps, DH had the goat cheese ravioli (he still talks about it) and I had a flatbread. We both had the filet for the entree. DH had the banana dessert and I had the Happiest Celebration on Earth selection. I believe the total was over $100 without the tip. I would recommend it! :thumbsup2 Have a great trip! :wizard:

Thanks for the great review! I also have an ADR there in 25 days (I think that's how many days-9/17). I've never eaten there, so was really interested in recommendations.

Oddly, the 2 credit TS restaurants aren't really "worth" it on the ddp if you look at it from a strictly $$ standpoint. I know it seems strange but unless you order the most expensive menu item for an appetizer, entree and dessert, you aren't really going to come out ahead. That said, you won't likely "lose" money either (because tax and tip is included) unless you don't order your app, entree and dessert while using your 2 TS credits. My thoughts on the dining plan are if you utilize all your TS credits and the vast majority of your CS and snack credits you won't lose money- you may not get a ton of "free" food, but you won't get taken by the mouse. So, if you enjoy TS meals while on vacation, you are ok with planning them in advance and you don't like the sticker shock of the bill after every meal, then the DDP is for you. If you prefer CS meals, not making reservation, etc, then skip it.

The only thing you cannot get at the CA Grill on the DDP is the Deluxe Yoshi sushi platter as it is designed for multiple people. You can get the regular yoshi platter. You can also get a couple things that are as expensive as the deluxe Yoshi, but not the deluxe Yoshi.

Simba's Mom - that is the same day my DH and I will be there. :wave2:

Enjoy your dinner!!

Note - if you order a glass of wine from the bar while waiting, make sure you know how much it is. DH and I made that mistake last year. It was a good wine, but IMO not worth that much (especially with the tip).
