Dining Plan for 2 year old (AP rate)?

This is a little bit of a different scenario, so I'm not sure about the answer. We have APs and plan to book with an AP rate and add dining. I'd like to add dining for my 2 year old, but obviously we don't have an AP for her, so could we even do it?

Thanks!

When we went last year, we were not able to add our 2 year old to a dining plan. It was pretty easy though, as he could eat for free from any of the family style and buffet restaurants, other than that we paid for his kids meal, the most we paid was at our signature dining (flying Fish) 12 dollars, but on average 6 dollars a meal for him, so less in the long run since we had many buffets and family style dinners. This year we will be doing the same with our 20 month old. I am really thinking though that with the amount she eats ,she might just share her brothers meal. lol

I would think you could as you will then be paying the child's meal prices.

Yes, you can do it. If you book an annual passholder package with dining (requires only one adult AP at checkin) you do not have to purchase tickets as part of the package. You will, however, have to register her as a three-year-old and pay for a child's plan.

Thank you all for the replies. After thinking about it a little, I wonder if it would even be worth the possible confusion down the road. She'll always be listed with Disney as older than she really is and since she eats free most places, I'm not sure it's worth the trouble. We'll have to buy her a CS meal each time, but other than that, she can eat free or share with us.

You might not even have to buy a CS meal each day either. Depends on what you adults are eating, but I find most of the meals very large.

You can also add some side items like a yogurt, fruit, fries to add to some of the adult food to make a meal.

Every time I've looked at this for people, I've come to the conclusion that unless the child in question eats like a horse, it simply isn't cost-effective to buy the dining plan for under-3 children.

It may have been a good idea for free dining on longer trips (say 10+ days), but now with the 2-day ticket requirement, even that works out to a bad idea. I don't think it's even been wise when paying full rate for the dining plan.
