Hi everyone!

Need your opinion. My son is 12 1/2 months old and he is already eating table food 90% of the time. When we go out, we always order from the children's menu for him. He was big baby to start with (9 lbs. 6 oz) and weighs about 4 lbs now. So my question is a) can I get dining plan for son (or does he have to be 3) and b) is it worth it?

Hubby and I have already booked dining plan for us.

Thanks!

I don't know if you CAN, but I wouldn't. Your DS can eat free at any of the buffets (so pretty much all the character meals if you're doing those). The portions are HUGE at WDW so you can probably let him share off yours and still have plenty, especially since you get appetizer and dessert with the meal plan (wait staff have always been really nice about bringing an extra plate, etc.) You can still order off the children's menu if you need to, but you won't have a lot of money tied up in vouchers that you might not need to use. Hope you have a great trip! ::MinnieMo

P.S. Love your picture, he's a doll!

I just about spit out my drink reading this. Please tell me he weighs more than 4 pounds now... :earseek:

Hoping this was a typo! :earboy2:

I don't think you can get it for him until he is 3. We are going in Jan 2006 and my daughter will still be 2. At all the buffets she can eat for free and at the TS meals I am sure we will have tons to share. The only time I think I will have to buy food for her is when we eat at CS and most meals are only $3.99 to $6.00.

You can buy it, at least according to the WDTC reservations agent I spoke to several weeks agoy, you can. We considered it for our 2.5 year old-- because she is a big eater and has just hit that not quite so nice about sharing age (she wants her own meal , wants to do everything herself, wants her own apartment...).
However, in order to do it, the agent has to imput the child as three year old which means you must by him the same ticket the rest of you have (but you don't have to activate the ticket, you can put it away for a future trip when he is really 3 or older) and he is counted as a full sized person in the room count (this was the problem for our family of 5- it bumped us out of the queen w/bunk bed standard room at AKL).

My oldest DS (now 21 and 6'1", 145 lbs,) weighed 24 lbs at 12 months (I'm assuming that's the weight you meant to put) and could easily eat a complete child's meal and ate table food from about 9 months on. If he's like my son was, he would eat pretty much anything you put in front of him, you can give him some of almost everything on your plate and order a side of something like a veggie for him also (if you really need it). Since buffets are free for him and no one would question you sharing a plate with him, why spend the extra money?

Hi!

I must have been really out of it when I posted last nite. He is now about 24 lbs. I really do feed him.

:rotfl:

:earboy2: Thanks for the input. I forgot that I would need to get him a ticket, and I don't want to do that. This is costing enough already.

So he can pick off our plates or we will order from the children's menu as needed.

I forgot that I would need to get him a ticket

If he is only 17 months he is free to enter the parks. 2 and under is free. We went last May and my son was 30 months old and got into all the parks for free. He was pretty big for his age so I was concerned they would think we were lying, but no one even asked. We pushed him in every day in his stroller no problems.

You will have pleanty of food. IF you don't you can always order a childs plate. At most restaurants with the dining plan we only used 2 TS's and we all ate, both our 3 yr old and 2 yr old shared with me.
