Hi, there. We're traveling to the World in Dec. and will be using the dining plan for all 6 nights. We'd like to attend the Hoop Dee Doo Revue one night, but it requires 2 credits. Can we purchase one extra dinner credit? I don't want to have pay out of pockets for any of our dinners.

Thanks!
~Cori

One way to get the extra credits without paying OOP for any meals is to share. If you share one adult meal between two people twice you'll have the 2 extra adult credits you'll need for the HDD. If that's not enough food you can supplement by purchasing an appetizer OOP. You'll have to do the same with the children's meals. Just be aware that you cannot do this at buffets, family style meals, the skillet at Whispering Canyon Cafe, dinner shows or any other place where every person is charged a flat amount for being at the table.

The simplest is to pay OOP for the least expensive meal.

You could also pay OOP for one person's meal while the others use the dining plan until you've accumulated the extra set of credits. For example, at Le Cellier at lunch one person in our family ordered the filet while I had the burger. We used the DDP for the filet and paid for mine OOP.

You cannot purchase extra credits for the dining plan.

Wouldn't purchasing an extra credit be essentially the same thing as paying OOP?

We always arrive late afternoon/early evening on our 1st day & then depart early morning on our last day. This essentially gives us an extra day's worth of meals. We take that extra TS credit to use for our 2TS meal & eat a CS dinner on our arrival day. We still have an extra snack credit to use somewhere as well. (Clear as mud?? :)) I didn't think to work it this way until our 2nd trip with DDP so thought I'd share...

There was talk 2 - 3 months ago that dining guests could purchase extra meal credits at their resort's front desk.
However, the cost was more expensive. And I do not know how well versed anyone is on this at front desks. Seems to be a little known option, if it is still an option. Seems I recall one guest being told there was no such thing, at that time, when there was.
At that time there was a thread on the rumors board with the extra credit prices.
With the extra cost of the credits, you probably are better just paying a different meal OOP.

What WDTC should offer is guests being able to purchase extra entitlements prior to arrival.

And the extra credits are/were sold by the day. So you could not just buy meal entitlements. It was a full day's worth.

can you add money to your room card??
or maybe get a Disney gift card to pay for the OOP meal
if sharing isn't possible for you
