Dining plan drinks and desserts.

Hi! I am doing some planning to try at least to break even with the quick-service dining plan, and as I have never tried it I have some doubts that I would love someone to help me dissipate. I have tried to contact Disney about this, but they told me to call their Dining Department, and as I live in a far, far away land (Uruguay), there is no chance that I would make a long distance call to try to save a few bucks.

So, my doubts are the following:

Do items like the lemonade slush (Columbia Harbor House), cherry slush (Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe), iced French vanilla coffee (Sunshine seasons) and Simply Orange® Juice, count as drinks in a quick-service dining plan meal?

Do items like the specialty cupcake (ABC Commissary), butterfinger cupcake (Starring Rolls) and Geltao (End Zone), count as desserts in a quick-service dining plan meal?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

As far as I remember the only drink listed in the drinks that qualifies with the DP is the orange juice (I don't drink coffee so I wouldn't have checked for that). And that might only be at breakfast. Generall the included drink is a refillable soda or water bottle or bottle soda.

The cupcakes are desserts for ADULT meals (kids usually get a cookie), and I've read that gelato is included as dessert for your meal -- again, adults only.

So... no fancy, expensive beverages for the dining plan then.

Do you know if zebra domes at The Mara can be ordered as desserts for adult meals?

I have ordered the slushies as a drink with my meal on the QS dining plan and it was included as my drink.

I was at the Sci-Fi last week and my waiter allowed me to order a shake as my drink (dining plan) and the brought me a complimentary coke later on.

It never hurts to ask about what is covered for the drink.

Thank you! I will follow your advice!!

I recall some sort of smoothie or shake set Whispering Canyon Cafe as well that we received as our beverage. Perhaps it just depends. Definitely ask ahead of ordering in case that would change your mind.

Zebra domes at Mara are a dessert option on the plan (yum!!) and I got the specialty cupcake at ABC commissary as my dessert with my quick service meal on the DDP. At several quick service places they told me anything on the dessert menu is available for adults to choose as their dessert.

What is included as a non-alcoholic beverage will vary widely depending upon the quick service or table service restaurant, but basically it would include beverages such as soda, coffee, tea, iced tea, lemonade, bottle of Dasani water. Some places, especially the Disney owned restaurants, might allow additional choices such as slushies, milk shakes. smoothies, designer coffees, but it will vary with the restaurant so you will have to ask every time if something catches your eye. The third party restaurants are far less likely to allow anything beyond the basic choices because of the way they are reimbursed by Disney.

As far as the desserts on the QS plan, most of the desserts on the menu will be included. At food courts or places with a large selection, just ask a cashier or someone behind the counter if there are any exclusions. At places with ice cream, gelato or anything that might melt, you can let the cashier know your dessert choice, s/he will stamp your receipt and you'll be able to come back within a specified period of time (usually about an hour) to get your dessert.

Rather than calling Disney it is better to ask your questions here because you'll get more accurate answers, but ultimately ask when you are at the restaurant just in case something changes by the time you arrive. When you call Disney you will get a call center where chances are zero to none that you will get someone who will know the answers to questions as specific as yours. :)

Thanks for your advice Kim!

I'm a bit dissapointed in Disney's e-mail customer service. I have contaced them on several occasions, but I haven't recieved satisfactory replies. Just a few days ago, I wrote to them to ask if the Attractions+ photo package was still an option at Disney World, because I know for a fact that it is at Disneyland, and they answered instead with an explanation of what Fastpass+ is o_O It's as if they have never heard of Attractions+ ... I also just might have had bad luck... who knows. Anyway, the DISboard is a million times better! :-)

Thank you once more for your reply.

was so happy to find this! was just wandering the same thing. Going during SWW and it would be great to snag a special cupcake with lunch. :flower:
