Can someone please explain all of this to me and do we know yet when it is suppose to take place?
Thanks in advance

Beginning Oct 14 you have to pay for the dining plan at the time it's added to your reservation. You will still have the option to add it up to 48 hours prior to your arrival date.

Oh.... ok.... I knew about that. I heard something about having more dining options such as being able to choose how many days you want the dining plan, and not all the people on your reservation have to take it. etc..
Guess I was dreaming... LOL

There are rumors that indicate this may be coming, but Disney and/or DVC have not announced anything yet.

Yes, that's just a rumor.

There is also a rumor that the dining plan will not be cancellable.

I don't know how much stock to put in any of these rumors.

What if you have an existing reservation that you have already added the dining plan to? Can we still pay when we get to our resort? We have a reservation for Dec and the dining plan was already added.

Since it's already added to your reservation you will pay at check-in.

Do we have to add the dining plan when you make reservations or just make them and add DDP later. In past trips we have called Disney Dinning not DVC to make the ressies, then later told DVC we were adding the plan.

The only change being made on Oct 14 is to require payment when the dining plan is added to a reservation.

You can make your ADRs then add the plan. I book all my online much easier than calling.

The only problem you would run into is a restaurant that requires a pre-pay, like CRT. If you haven't added the dining plan, you'll have to pay and get a refund later.

Hummm it looks like when you are booking Cal Grill on line you still have to secure the ADR with a cc so you wouldn't need to add the DDP.. Right?

I wish they would do that. I posted about this a couple of times a year or so ago. I would call it "Disney Dining Your Way". :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I think it would be great to add so many days of regular dining, maybe one Deluxe day and a few counter service days to ONE vacation IN ONE resort without having to do split stays. I guess I can dream can't I?! :cloud9:

Here is my dilemma. I have a reservation with my home resort and added the dining plan assuming to pay on check in. I was thinking of trying for a different resort after October 14 but than would have to wait to add the dining plan Right? so if I stick to my home resort with the already added dining plan than when I make reservations that require having the dining plan there will be no money required to reserve say CRT or HDDR but if I change resorts I will have to wait to add the dining plan till Im ready to pay for it in full and have to pay deposit on CRT reservation. Sounds like I need to stay at my home resort??? Ideas??

October 14th is my 7 month mark for my vacation.
I was planning on calling that day to add one more day to my trip.
I was short a few points and plan on purchasing them but need to wait until 7 months out.
I am wondering the same thing about adding the day.
I currently have the DxDP and don't want to pay 7 months out.
You will need to call to make the special ADRs.
You can try to explain that you will definitely be adding the DDP.
See what they say.:confused3
The only other risky thing you could do is wait until 6 months out to change resorts after you make the ADRs.
I'm not sure what kind of room you would be looking for.

I called the dining reservation number and they knew nothing about it just that if you don't have the dining plan added than you had to pay for the ADR special reservations like CRT and HDDR up front. Memeber services said nothing would change and it would not matter so I get two different stories hmmm???

You would have to secure a California Grill ADR with a credit card whether you are on the dining plan or not, so it's irrelevant if you are on the plan at the time you make the reservation.

Unless it's a prepaid reservation (CRT or a dinner show) it makes absolutely no difference whether or not you have a dining plan on your room reservation when you make the ADR.

You'll have to pay in full for CRT or a dinner show unless you have a dining plan on your room reservation. If you call, you can try explaining to the phone agent that you intend to add a dining plan later.

Dining reservations states that if you dont have the dining plan added to your reservation you would have to pay for the pre-paid reservations (CRT or HDDR) but if the dining plan is on your reservation there you just secure with a credit card. They said the system will automatically charge you. They have no control over that part
