Friends of ours booked a vacation for their married children for a honeymoon... They included the dining plan. On the last day, they were told by a CM where they were having breakfast that was their last meal on the plan. Now probably you or I would question that if we suspected we had not used all the credits, they are young and did not question. They did in fact have more credits for lunch and dinner that day and did not use them as they believed the CM......

Just a head's up, make sure you know exactly where you stand on the plan and if you think you have more credits than you have been told, check it out with guest services....

Oh, what a shame!

I had this happen last year. We ate at WCC and it was a great dinner, we were handed the bill and I noticed at the bottom the total of credits left didn't match what I had been totalling the entire trip, I had a meal planned the next day and was bummed because now we were a credit short. I walked over to the WL desk where we were staying and they said "no problem" and added a credit back to our card, what a relief!

What a shame? I've never used the dining plan but if it's anything like the old Silver package where points or "wishes" are involved the hotel will gladly print an accounting of points used.

The first time we used our snack credits, we purchased 2 beverages at Sleepy Hollow in MK. Thankfully I kept the receipt, because when I looked at it later it showed that 22 credits had been taken off! We had this taken care of back at POFQ later that evening.

Oh my gosh, a cm gave you wrong information? I can't believe this!

Ok, I'm being sarcastic, sorry. It makes me sad to say that this unfortunately is becoming more and more common. JMHDO :confused3

Sorry your friends didn't get to use all their credits.

It is nice that you get a receipt. I always checked ours and never had a problem. The dining plan is great!

We always checked our receipt too. Our biggest problem was we where with another party, and the cm's would charge the wrong card. One party had one child, and ours had two. So we had to watch the credits to know what card to use, but no big deal. We are still going to use the ddp this time.

It is a shame that newlweds missed out on a lunch and dinner that had been paid for because they listened to a cast member.

I'm sure the CM didn't mean to mislead them but it is still a shame for that couple.

And yes, they could have gotten an accounting from Guest Services or more easily just asked for help reading the code on the receipt but it was their honeymoon and as Mackey Mouse said, they are young.

I save all our receipts for that very reason!

We ended up with a pile of papers but in the long run it was very worth it!

Disney's computer system is inadequate, to say the least! I've read about more screw-ups, like the one mentioned on this thread. Really, you don't want to spend your vacation counting credits, etc. I've had screw-ups on my hotel bill, room charges, and phone calls. I NEVER charge meals, etc., back to my room. Come checkout time, you simply don't have the time to stand there and argue over every charge, you just accept it and go on. I've then found later we were over charged, double billed, and charged for purchased we didn't make. It took several hours on the phone to straighten it all out, not the way you want to remember a vacation.

I keep it simple--the room charge is for the room, period. I pay for meals, souveniers, seperately. They make enough errors on the room charge. I was actually considering the dining plan, but now think better of it.

But the receipt could very well have been correct and the CM just assumed because it was breakfast on checkout day, they were finishing their credits. Not a good assumption but it wouldn't surprise me.

I just wanted to say one more thing here.. I agree with VHoffman...I learned a long time ago never to charge on your room key.. I use that just for my room, any other charges I use my American Express at the time of purchase. The reason being, as was stated by the previous posters, you could not keep track of the charges.....somehow you were getting charged months later, double charged, and charged for something you did not do, then you had to call on the phone and do battle...

I would suggest for those of you who do have an AP to purchase the Disney Dining experience, definitely the way to go.

Thanks fpr the heads up...I always every few days ask for a statement of hotel charges and check it wil my reciepts...that way I don't have to do it at the end of a long stay. I have been lucky and never had a problem :thumbsup2

I will chime in against vhoffman.

I was used to, when travelling for businees, charging expenses to my room. One large hotel I stayed in, about 30 years ago, managed to charge the entire Guest Laundry Service bill for one day against my room. When staying at any hotel for several day, every one or two days I would ask for a copy of my folio so any errors could be corrected.

I had attended all the Disneyana Conventions; my hotel stays were usually in the 9 to 11 day range and sometimes my bill of purchases ran to a few thousand dollars. I made it a point to get a copy of my folio at least every second night and carefully checked it against all my receipts and known telephone use. That way I would not have problems when I checked out.

It is really just a matter of keeping up with what is being posted to your account so if there are any questions they can be asked and resolved when you are not in a rush.
