Dining Plan and APs

How do you add the dining plan if you have an AP? Obviously, you don't need/want any park tickets. Is it possible? If so, is it only the paid dining plan one can add? Or can one get free dining?

You must book a ticketless room/dining package for annual passholders to avoid the ticket purchase requirement on a package reservation. You can apply an AP room discount to these packages if one is available.

You don't need to have the annual pass at the time you book, but you must present one adult annual pass at check-in. Only one adult has to have the AP, and you can't use a child's AP.

If you already have a room only reservation, this will make it a package. You're then subject to the deposit, cancellation and change rules for packages, not those for room-only reservations (for example, minimum $200 deposit at booking, payment in full due 45 days before arrival, cancellation fee for cancellation after that time, etc.)

You can't get free dining without paying rack rate and purchasing at least 2 day base park tickets for each guest age 3 and over, so free dining isn't available on the ticketless packages.

Can you book a room at AP discount and add the dining plan, for which you must pay the going rate per night, without adding tickets? Yes, absolutely.

Can you get free dining with an AP without buying tickets? Nope.
You will still have to buy the minimum (2-day base) tickets per person to get the free dining.
Do you have to use these tickets during your trip? No - you can save them to apply towards your AP renewal, or to use on a future trip after your AP expires.

In order to get free dining you have to purchase a min 2 day tickets...if you have a ap you can get the diining plan with a room only discount if they are available. We leave in 4 days and we are staying at the animal kingdom villas with the dining plan and it saved us more using the the 42% off room only discount and paying for the dining plan. With free dining we would have paid a whole lot more
