It's one of the things not available for DVC stays.

Yes- I was hopeful that it might be something we could purchase as well. I must say that is the one thing I do miss alot about traveling independently vs through our points. It was so much nicer in the past to have the dining plan available. I was told many different things, but the bottom line was that it is not available to us, atleast at this time. I was hopeful because when I called in December I was told that it would be available (this was from the 407-w disney # dining department) and that more details would be available and I would be able to add dining to my stay through the vacation club or through disney dining themselves come Jan 2005. Of course now, nobody has a clue about it, and I did not write down the name of who I spoke to so I could follow up with them.

Rules change from planning stage to implementation. In the past several years dining options have only been part of a room/ticket/dining package...so this is not any change from that.

Early in DVC we could purchase the Food N Fun card, but that program eventually became not cost effective for members to or guests to use and was discontinued. It was not a DVC exclusive program, but was available to all WDW resort guests.

I don't remember what kind of cool dining plan we had in 98 (not as members but regular guests), but we ate everywhere from the RF to dining with Mickey and mini. We also tried every drink (to use up money on the card) from the pool bar. This was the type of plan we had really wanted again.
Eating in Disney can get a little expensive so to have an option of a prepaid meal plan seems really appealing. I'm still holding out hope that they may become a reality one day. It seems from other posts that members really do want it. Does anyone think it will be someday?

If you are interested in the DDE, call early! I tried calling today, and gave up after a 1/2 hour on hold. However, the recording said they are advising people that it is taking 8-12 weeks to get the card. I need it in 6 weeks :confused3

Really?? Wow, I called this morning, right as they opened at 9 am. I had maybe a 2 minute wait. And she said it would take 4-6 weeks. I don't need it for 8 weeks but thought I would call anyway, just in case. What time did you call? I think the key to it, is calling as soon as they are open.

Never Fear! Once you get through they'll take your info and send you an email. The email serves as your card until you get the more permanent one. I did this in January, having the email worked out fine.
