dining package for DVC members?

i know i read about this awhile back, but how does this work and what is the cost? we are AP holders; so, there is no need for a park pass. thanks! not much longer now!!!

You must buy the package for everyone staying in the villa, and you must purchase it for every night of your trip. The cost is $37.99 per person per day. You get the same offerings as non-DVC guests--1 TS meal, 1 counter meal and one snack per person per night.

Call MS to add Dining to your reservation. You cannot add it at check in, but you do pay for it in full at check in. You do not have to buy tickets to add Dining to your DVC reservation.

Prices wdwfan1 listed are for 2006 stays. The price went up for 2007.

My husband thought he read that you had to all have the same kind of tickets in your reservation to get the DDP. We are going with friends in March and my husband and I have AP and our 4 friends will have some type of Magic Your Way tickets. We plan on purchasing the DDP for everyone which I believe you have to but weren't sure about the difference in the tickets

DVCers don't have to buy any sort of entrance tickets to buy the plan. But you do have to book it in advance of your stay. We're going to try it in December.

I think that you had to buy at least a single days entrance ticket and pay rack rate if you were going when there was the free dining, but that's not applicable to DVC stays on points.

I am going for 10 days beginning September 22nd. I decided to pass on the DDP and buy the DDE. I figure that will allow me to save on alcohol and also not be disappointed if I can't get into a place where I wanted to use credits, but allow me to "wing it" a bit more. It seems with the DDP, you need PS for just about every table service place.

We are DVC and going in Sept. for 3 nigths. I added DDP with no problem. (No tix necessary!) Then, for our trip in Dec. I also added DDP. Again no problem. They just modify the code on your ressie and yes you MUST purchase it for EVERYONE in your party for EVERY nights stay. Well worth it!
All my ADR's are made and we are getting pumped!
Yes, I'm sure that it will be crowded but if you go into it knowing that is going to be the case then it should not bother you. Either way the resturants are going to be packed with DDP'er and non-DDP'ers. Enjoy!

Actually I just found out. The adult cost goes to $39.99 per day (just round it to $40) and the child stays the same for 2007.

We are new owners (just bought at the beginning of the year on our last trip to WDW in January) and are going back in December. We decided, since we now have basically 2 years worth of points, to splurge a bit and stay at the Poly for 7 nights. I called MS to inquire about the dining plan and was told that DVC members could only get the dining plan if staying at a vacation club resort and not the Disney Collection. Does anyone know why that is? We found the DDP to work extremely well for us, not to mention it seemed to be a huge cost savings, and can't figure out what the difference is and why we can't purchase the DDP. I guess if there's nothing we can do about it, then we can just suck it up - OR change our reservations to a DVC resort - but my hubby wanted a reason from me and I couldn't give him one...we're just curious.

If we were to purchase the DDP, then had guests drive over and join us for dinner one night - would the server challenge why everyone at the table didn't have the Dining Plan?

....And what if you book more than one room? I am guessing that, since each room has its own confirmation number, it wouldn't be necessary to purchase the DDP for all the rooms?

If your Dining Plan is for 2A (two adults) and there were four adults at the table, you won't have any trouble using 2 TS credits for the two meals for the two adults on the Dining Plan, with the other two adults paying out-of-pocket. If your Dining Plan is for 2A2C (two adults and two children) and there were four adults (and perhaps two children) at the table, you won't have any trouble using 2 TS credits for the two meals for the two adults on the Dining Plan (and perhaps 2 TS credits for the two meals for the two children), with the other two adults paying out-of-pocket.

I think that the DDP is part of package plans that include rooms, tickets etc. and you are just getting the room through your points which is a room only reservation. The other thing is that the wording in the contract that Disney Dining made with DVC probably is very specific in that it is only available for stays on points at DVC resorts. It would also not be available to you if you had a room only reservation at AP or AAA rate at the Poly or any other WDW resort. Hope you have a great trip whichever way you decide to go.

Actually, I think it only went up a buck -- to $38.99. Keep in mind that the DDP price includes all taxes and an 18% tip at the TS restaurants.
